First step towards redemption complete tonight - we most certainly need to improve a lot from here but the psychological boost from that will be huge!
Could be a huge result in the context of the season - 2 games clear of them now. No excuses not to hit the bye at worst 8-3 now if not 9-2.
Enjoyed that so much - as the hawks fans were well and truly warming up mid last quarter to heap more @@@@ on the swans fans - they left very quietly"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Now, are any of you Victorian Swans fans willing to get in the face of Clarkson? An assault charge issued to the Hawks coach would probably top off the night nicely.Comment

Great win, I don't care who played better. I also don't know if I dislike a player in the AFL more than Sam Mitchell. Ever since he got Hall to concede those two 50M penalties by needling him all the way up the ground I've loathed him.
No analysing who did what or who played poorly, but Hanners, Jetta, Reid and Parker get special mentions. Macca was awful until he went forward and won us the game, so he's redeemed himself!Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

The intensity and pressure were great from both sides. It's a treat for all footy fans to see that kind of game.
We were good when we needed to be and lucky too, but you need both to beat Hawthorn at the MCG, or anywhere for that matter.
I wonder what odd you could have gotten that neither Buddy nor Roughy would kick a goal. It was a bizarre game with so many twists and turns.Comment

Oh and i must apologise for writing goodesy off earlier in the year. Did a really important role for the team tonight, especially as buddy couldnt get into the game. One should never write off a champion.
Just walking past the carillon near the g bellowing out cheer cheer - a great night!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I'm happy about the win, but a "sliding doors" Devil's advocate post ... if Cyril had clean hands in the last 30 seconds and RWO would be in melt-down.
BUT Clarko is so disingenuous in his presser, I'll take our sliding door outcome.Comment

I was extremely encouraging that we seemed to mix up our game plan a bit tonight. The fact that we had fewer inside 50s, but scored nearly every time we went in with no marks to our big forwards was a refreshing change from our "bomb it on the heads of Tippett/Franklin" strategy.
On the downside, Hawks were missing Hodge and with decent kicking would have beat us comfortably. We still need a bit more fitness to run through the game and a couple of new players. Goodes has come good, but I'm not seeing much improvement from Shaw. He's the one who would go in my book.Comment

No one challenged that Cyril's run along the forwards flank boundary where - from my couch - he looked like he was out of bounds. All I heard the Ch7 commentators say was how mercurial he is. For me, it should have been a throw in.Last edited by goswannies; 23 May 2015, 10:50 PM.Comment

Loved Reids game first and foremost.
Nothing from Kizza Franklin and Kennedy has much better in him but 4 points banked. We won't play the Hawks in the gf this year.
Was important to start the way we did and I thought after the free against Lloyd we were done but we stuck in there.
Goodes is back. McVeigh critical at the end.
Such an important win.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

During the call, Richo made the comment that Sammy Reid seems to "float" in the air at times when taking his hangers. The others were derisive & mocking.
Richo, I agree. Sam reminds me a bit of how Michael Jordan used to float or hang in the air.
Capper used to do it an bit too, but he often used to assist with his hands for a bit of leverage.Comment
