The design and symbols are explained in the link below. The Carlton indigenous players interviewed were proud of the design. It is quite lovely up close but was difficult/impossible to see from behind the boundary fence.

"With the Murray River in mind, the Blues? guernsey depicts three of the most highly respected symbols that have been handed down from Elder to Elder over thousands of years. One of these symbols is the Rainbow Serpent, which is recognised in Indigenous culture as the creator of the Murray River."

My mistake. But I did check before I posted, by looking at the largest TV images that I could find of their jumpers and I really couldn't see any design there.

My kids asked why the Blues didn't wear an indigenous style guernsey and I had to tell them a few times it was just hard to see.
I will have to show them Meg's post above.

Be careful, they might ask you for a Mars bar! Much easier to see their logo than the indigenous symbols.

I have loved the indigenous jumpers in the last two years. GWS had a particularly striking design this year.
The indigenous players in each club seem to be very proud of them. As an example, I read that Chad Wingard became quite emotional in addressing the Port players about the Port indigenous guernsey. This year their jumper was designed by Wingard's grandmother.

RogueSwan, you might like to show your kids this article, with photos and brief explanation of the indigenous guernseys worn by every club in 2015.

The indigenous guernsey I bought last year has been signed by my current holy trilogy.
I thought about wearing it (because I love it), but then decided not to so I can keep it semi-pristine.
I'd LURV to have it signed by all our indigenous players.
I'm going to have to start working on it!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Yes I saw a woman wearing the Swans' one last Friday night and so had a good look up close. The women's version with capped sleeves and a small v-neck is very attractive particularly worn with blue jeans. And it makes a conversation piece with the stories behind to the symbols.

Yeah... the women's gear is not so attractive (nor do they cater for the more buxom amongst us).
                  I prefer the real thing.

If you haven't seen this notice, the program is on very soon. But recorded before last Friday night's match.

Sam Newman called Goodes a jerk on the footy show which must be one of the greatest pot-kettle situations of all time.

                          What?
                          For serious?
                          That's why I don't watch that drivel.

Martin Flanagan's article in today's age is quite good, meets the debate somewhere in the middle and recognises that the issues isn't as black and white as those on both sides of the debate try to make it. Can't find the article online so no link unfortunately. Here's a snippet " I do not criticise Goodes for making a statement of aboriginal pride. I do criticise people on both sides of the debate who responded superficially to what he did. It wasn't a waltz step he performed, it wasn't a samba. It was a war dance and, traditionally , war dances invite a response".

                              This one??
Adam Goodes' war dance must provoke conversation, not confrontation
