For the record, I could hear the 'counter cheers' through the booing ob TV. Muffled it a bit.

Booing of Adam Goodes by fans of Melbourne clubs

I've just watched the video of Brent Harvey knocking the ball out of the hand of Matt Priddis and then claiming and getting a 50 metre penalty on the grounds that Priddis allegedly threw away the ball. The commentators seem to be really admiring of Harvey as 'smart' or 'cheeky', rather than describing him as what he is - a cheat. And the incident is not even mentioned in the MRP's report despite there being clear-cut video footage.
Yet I have no doubt the North Melbourne supporters will find some rationale to advance for booing Adam Goodes on Saturday, while Boomer is supposedly a super star. Hypocrisy.

Similar to the Dale Thomas 50 against us, he waited until the ball was thrown to him then jogged back a few steps, the commentators said something along the lines of "it takes an experienced footballer to know how to get away with that".

At least Robbo said he thought it was crook by Harvey on 360 last night. He's in the minority though.

'Staging' - it is in the 2015 MRP list of Fixed Financial Offences.

Must say I thought exactly the same as you. Imagine if Goodesy had done that! It would have been front page news!

One of the commentators said during the booing on Saturday that "this booing is going to follow him for the rest of his career".
                    Why?
                    Because the media say so?
For me, the Suns fans sounded like a pack of idiots who had NO idea why they were booing... they were just doing it.
I know it's not going to, but it just has to stop.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

In Judd's press conference this morning announcing his retirement, he mentioned the applause he received from the crows supporters as he was stretchered off the ground. When I heard that all I could think about was if that happened to Goodes he would probably be booed .

Dr Turf on SEN saying Tony Abbott was front and centre in the Neil Daniher march to the G. But asked why he didn't get involved in trying to stop the AG booing. Mmm I wonder - Populist or worse?

what exactly is Abbott meant to do or say? You can't legislate for people to show respect, or even to have good manners regardless of respect.

It really has nothing to do with him. Unfortunately, you can't ban booing. Rightly or wrongly, it's always been a way for football crowds to voice their displeasure during a game without resorting to abuse. I don't like it, but I just hope that more people start to get the message.

In Judd's retirement press conference today, Judd said that a couple of his match ups with Adam Goodes when they were both at the peak of their careers were probably the most memorable of his career. Nice to hear a fellow champion player give Goodes the respect that Adam deserves.
