Actually Angus Brayshaw had a pretty decent day out, Ellis Yolmen as well (though he may be too old?).

No chance. There are plenty of players who've put together many weeks of solid performances, some more than solid, who haven't been nominated yet. Robinson was handy, but nothing approaching a nomination worthy game IMHO.Comment

They tend to give out nominations based more on individual games in the first half of the season, it's only at the back end when they're struggling to find someone that they use the 'consistency of effort' type reason. But judging by Brayshaw's numbers I'd say that he'll be it this round.Twitter @cmdil

I'm sure Mike would support showing solidarity with his indigenous team mates. Besides, it might actually add some memorability to the round rather than just a bit of lip service and fancy dress. We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!Comment

Just lock in Liam Duggan for Rising Star this week. Deservedly so...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

I know stats lie but Duggan's numbers aren't great and I watched the game and can't remember him doing anything particularly outstanding. Lovely kick of the footy though!Twitter @cmdil

Great call.Great comment to Robbo about what would the reaction have been if Twitter had been around when Nicky Winmar made his statement? I expect Adam Goodes will be remembered - including his actions last night - when Eddie is dead and buried. And we can tell the kids we were there when it happened.

Fixed it for youI support Adams right to do these things. I'm getting tired of the media spotlight being constantly on our club, I wish they wouldn't.

Fraser Gehrig is listed on wikipedia as 195cm and 109kg (that might be now!) and he used to get great separation and frequently mark the ball on the lead. I don't think it's just his size that's the issue. Could it be residual knee problems? He's 200cm and 105kg, he's not going to be able to break away from a fullback on the lead. He's at his best when he's one out and has the ball sat on his head so that he can use his strength to outmuscle his opponent and take the mark.
But in saying that he's clearly down on confidence at the moment, let's hope he's peaking at the pointy end of the season.Comment

I thought women were not allowed to do it and that Maori's found women doing it offensive? (I seem to remember the Spice Girls or someone got into trouble over it, but maybe it was more about them being the Spice Girls than the aka).
Incidentally, when the All Blacks do it it is led by the captain, unless he's non-Maori, in which case a Maori leads it.Comment

I did hear one commentator on the weekend saying that Tippo needs to getting the ball delivered to him out in front but also up high so that he is marking the ball at his full extension. Seemed to make sense to me."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

From this site (which seems to be a NZ Ministry of Education site set up to provide teaching resources) it seems as if women played a critical role in the haka.
"If the women decided to join the haka, they would come out and stand in front of the war party and perform a return haka with their taiaha, their patu, all those kinds of weapons, and this was a good sign. But if the women didn?t come out and perform a haka in reply, then the priests and elders knew they had seen a bad sign, and the war party would not go off to war."

In Kurt's defense as well our forward entries have been pretty ordinary this season to date, it's not as if he's having it delivered lace out and dropping chest marks. I'm still confident he will come good...his set shot kicking also looks to have improved.Twitter @cmdil
