Also if the Hawks get done by WC and we miraculously manage to win all our games from here on in we, and the Tiges, could keep the thugs out of the top 4!.
I know they all say you can't win from 5th but in reality 5th against 8th a likely Melbourne team would be easier than 1st against 4th in Perth. Win that and you possibly play a team coming back from Perth

Was thinking if swans finish 5th then no travel to Perth week 1 of finals and then may get either Richmond or Hawks week 2of finals. Of course I think 4th would still be better cos you could win week 1 and then have a week off. They are all writing us off against Adelaide.

I think we should win against the crows, although the way we've been playing every game is a danger game. I see your point though, but yes, top 4 is the key.

Did that last week and the week before that and the week before that and the week before that.........
That's unfair. Shaw was among our best last week and deserves his place. I know he's had an up and down year but riding him relentlessly every week whether or not he plays well or poorly is not helpful.

I wish Jones had of kept his spot but Shaw was admittedly brilliant last week, at least in terms of effort . And I've been calling for his head also.

"Our best" from Doctor and "brilliant" from Melbourne Blood. Very interesting. Champion data which assessed every involvement in a game places Grundy and Rampe above Shaw, fantasy points are useless as the simply count have many possessions with no outcomes. If we are debating that a 33 year old with, 230 odd games, has a good game after killing us for weeks compared to a 20? year old, with 10 games trying to developed in a list starting to look like Geelong and sliding down the ladder, then we have plenty of issues. Jake Lloyd was assessed as 1 point less then Shaw but many raved about Shaws game. I just don't get into it running around looking good in one game. In 2012 Rhyce played very well but now his disposal and decision making is not good enough. BJ who i have bagged previously is playing better. So is Harry a bit, not Towers and Lloyd played back to his normal level. I dont want to crawl into the finals and lose a prelim and then carrying a list a year older without enough younger players exposed the AFL standards and i think we missed the boat this year.

If we can't win it then may as well finish further down to reap the advantages.

Early exit means we'll have a less compressed preseason, don't finish top 6 (a possibility) and get a draw that doesn't mean you play all the top teams twice next year, the further we slide the more ND points we'll have.

So I'd prefer to either come good and be a genuine threat or first week exit.

Yep, Shaw was in our best players last week, Jones had another quiet game.

Shaw needs to keep playing with that full on intensity and willingness to work, like he did last week.

He'll continue to deliver the odd howler but he loves to play on, and gives us some much needed dash from halfback.

Jones looks to me like he's going to be a fine player. A different beast to Shaw.

He has that uncompromising mentality, he's got good skills, and looks like he's going to be a good decision maker with a bit more experience.

I'm just relieved Mitchell won't be sub. That was a poor selection decision.

I'd like to see B Jack in the vest this week...

If McGynn is ready to play, he's ready to play, and should be in the 21. If I was a betting man I'd put a few bob on him to kick our first goal.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Plenty of respect for the Tigers since this fiasco started because:
                      1. They were the first club to state they would wear the indigenous jumper (followed by Bulldogs).
                      2. Their banner last night.
                      3. They BEAT the Hawks.

If we can't win this year, then my next favourite would be Tigers, then Bulldogs.
