I expect that Josh and Benny are certainties to return with Benny potentially getting the job on Poppy. Rohan I suspect will also be selected because he looked pretty sharp in the Ressies and we need lots of real speed.

Three outs get problematic but Hiscox is a certainty, Jones didn't do much (and looks to have a sore kneee to me) and Papley who, it is reliably leaked, has a sore foot and only managed 5 possessions last week. Some are screaming for Tower's head but I think he should be persevered with. Hewett didn't get a lot of possession but they were telling possessions so he may get another go.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

With McGlynn now named as a "certainty to play", this seems like the logical changes.

Rohan to go forward most likely.

McGlynn to tag Mitchell, he's done it in the past.

Then probably.. Smith, Jones and Rampe will have to account for Rioli, Puopolo and Bruest.

McVeigh may find himself in a forward pocket.

Mills to play the distributer role from halfback.

Probably all wrong..But given how much they move around, maybe for a fleeting...you never know.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Rampe goes to Gunston I reckon. Laidler doesn't have the pace to use to reduce gunstons reach advantage on the lead. Laidler may have to play on Breust. The reality is though if we don't reduce their inside 50's, it won't matter. Our centre clearance work for the first 5 weeks or so was right up there but has dropped off badly since, especially last week. The other thing that will kill us is bombing it long into our forward 50. They will annihilate us if we do that all night. Need to be smart going forward. Basically if we do everything right, we will win. Sounds fanciful but we've put it all together a few times this year and should have the contested ball advantage as the Hawks have been way down in that department. Their tackling has been great though so how we use the footy will be crucial.

Robinson's been confirmed as out for 12 weeks. There is now the injury room to upgrade Marsh.

We need a fast medium defender to replace Ted Richards for the game against the Hawks. The options for fast medium defenders are Rohan and Marsh.

I can't see how it can be anything else. Neither of them played in either team and it seems to have been completely glossed over. Our way is to handle things in house so it seems an obvious conclusion to draw. I'm happy to stand corrected if it turns out to be something else though.

The club has a habit of not publicising injuries to reserves players - eg the lack of explanation of Dawson's absence for a few weeks. It's almost like they assume supporters don't really care. It might seem an unusual coincidence for them both to get injured on the eve of the game, but I think it's as likely an explanation as any other.

The obvious explanation is that they were abducted by aliens.

At least someone is getting some possessions.

Well, if they were on our side they would have abducted Hiscox and Towers.

I reckon Buddy will wear No. 2 for his good mate Roughy.

And I also reckon that'd be brilliant.

It will be interesting to see how Franklin deals with the news of his mate's illness.

His year has been progressing so well and there have been positives on every level but how will he handle this situation.

Not being part of the inner sanctum and out of the loop may pray on his mind and a bad performance on the top of Roughy's poor prognosis may cause a relapse of the depression that so debilitated him last season. I hope he has the resilience, medication and support that would prevent such an outcome.

Either way I think his form may be patchy at best, perhaps this is the time to give him a rest in the interests of long term gain.

On other selection issues, if there is blame to be apportioned for the loss I believe it falls fairly and squarely with the second tier followers, Hannebery, Parker and Tippett were outstanding in the early stages of last week and Towers was an integral part of the 3 early goals. The fact that we lost the initiative after that was as much to do with Hampson's dominance at set plays as anything else we did.

I've loved Tippett's development but he gives away free kicks at clearances and Sinclair is often uncompetitive as a ruckman but equally as a pressure forward. He is fine when leading, finding space or contesting for marks one out, but he does not win ground balls and goes missing defensively.

Unsure about Rohan's fitness but he seems certain to return as does Kennedy and McGlynn. This means Hiscox (needs more development but that's why you play debutantes, to find out if they're ready), Towers (very unlucky in my mind) and one other, probably Papley, Jones or Hewitt, although I'd be disappointed for either of them. My preference would be to opt for Laidler not because he has done anything wrong but alongside Reg and Ted, his lack of pace looks damning. Espeically, if he is manning up against either Smith, Puopoulo, Bruest or Sicily.

This is rather insightful - Given Franklin's head space at the end of 2015 this could have all sorts of ramifications - Lets hope not.

I would say just as daunting for the Hawthorn players. It is far more serious than when the melanoma was first spotted and he was out for a while. I wish him all the best.
