It's been a week of serious injury news all around. The Talia news is mild by comparison and our injury list is looking relatively short. It looks that Ted will be with us for a while.

Good changes for this week. Hope Ted gets back to his best.
I can't see Talia playing this year. He probably is still not walking if he is LTIL, let alone trying to build his fitness when he can get on the track. I don't like to be a pessimist, but he may not play again.

If I recall, he had a partial tear of the Lisfranc ligament and displacement of the 2nd metatarsal. I don't believe there were fractures, or else he would have certainly had surgery. There has never been a mention of surgery, which suggests the injury is not too severe as these things go, although Lisfranc injuries are all serious. The NFL did a study on Lisfranc injuries and I believe the average return for this level of severity was 4 months.

I hope you didn't mean 'may not play again' ever, but rather this season, which could well be the case. Dane Swan's injury involved 3 fractures and he would be lucky to return in a year. But unless the club has been holding back information on Talia's injury, he should be able to at least be ready for the next year's pre-season training.

We are all frustrated with the poor level of injury reporting by the club. If you want to see something a lot better, look at the Brisbane Lions website. They may not be playing well, but they're doing okay in keeping the fans informed. They even take questions from fans about how players' injuries are progressing.

The fact that he has been put on LTIL makes me feel it is worse than they have let on. I did mean he may not play again. Knowing a couple of people who have had foot injuries, it is a long way back and a few AFL players have not come back or had very long recovery. Egan from Geelong and Clarke from are 2 that come to mind.

The fact he is not having surgery and they remarked that they strongly believe he will be ready to play in 8 weeks indicates that they were just a bit too optimistic on the original timeframe, something very easy to do. Mathew Egan I believe had a different kind of foot injury and there have been questions about him returning too early. I don't recall how severe the Clark injury was, but I believe he had a fracture. Mathew Richardson returned after a year from a Lisfranc injury that required surgery. He often comments about how bad it was, but he did come back and play well for many years.

Good choices here and the side looks stronger for it. I can see Deano being in and out and I can see Papley maybe having a small spell in the twos but do think he'll be back. Can't see Hiscox being with the club next season to be honest but you can't win them all.

March being upgraded is also interesting. There's no point in investing all this time in him and not even giving him a chance so I expect to see him get his chance in a few weeks.

              Harry gets an awesome chance

I know i have been a bit of a lone wolf re Harry but he has always reminded me of one of those players that when he gets a chance at Snrs we will see him rise to another level and be hard to dislodge

Zac Jones has been now put on notice as Harry can play the same role but Harry has a much better kick and patience with decision making

The club certainly has some decisions to make re the list this season end - you'd lock in Papley and O'Riordan in as upgrades and if Marsh/Newman also get upgraded shot then it really does have a flow on effect. We'll need to bring in a KPD and you'd think we'd like to list at least two in the draft. I know each club needs to use at least three minimum picks in the draft but do rookie upgrades get included in this number?
Can definitely see a clear out of the rookie list this year with it being almost exclusively filled by academy kids next year as the quality starts to lift.

i dont rate newman for snrs

but i don't see how he would help our backline rotation vs others already there

Auntie, you are far from alone. We always valued Harry's pace and his accurate kicking. He has kept on developing and his tackling, plus second and third efforts have made him a more complete player. Definitely in our top 22.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I think you may be talking about Harry Cunningham and Auntie about Harry Marsh.

Aah, didn't think of that one, so used to seeing Harry C rubbished here and fed up with it.

Switching horses, yes, I'd like to see Harry M get a couple of games in the firsts and find out how he goes at that level. If it doesn't happen I think he's on his way out.
