(I'd much prefer "I see red" - split enz still boast some of the best hairdos in pop history)
There is no relevance. Someone from the marketing arm of the club clearly went to Fenway Park at some point and came home with the idea. I can't stand it personally but I've already reached the point where I block it out.

I think it started a couple of years back when it was played in the quarter time break and the crowd started to sing along and it took off from there! It was a bit of harmless fun - now it's a bit annoying . (Well that's the only reason I could come up with) but it is a bit awkward when they play it and the players & umps are standing there waiting in the middle for it to finish
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Unfortunately, they used to play 'Up there for Sydney' when the team ran out on to the ground in the early 2000's. We lobbied for it to be changed to the 'Cheer Cheer' club song by writing letters to the club. We got a letter back thanking us and agreeing with our position and they changed it. Not taking any credit, but since then we have rarely been out of the eight. I couldn't care if I ever heard 'Up there for Sydney' again. I vote 'I see Red'.

They need to replace it with something newer, exciting, upbeat that the young kids coming to see the Buddy Show will be into! Like Crunchy Granola Suite!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Yeah, they can also rotate songs, instead of the same one all the time.
Thunderstruck would be good, especially since we have thunder in our song.

I don't mind the concept of a song brought out during a break, as it will create a bit of tradition.

Though, it should be more 'genuine' then Sweet Caroline. Geez. It just seems so forced and artificial.

I was in a corporate box at the MCG a few weeks back (recommended if you get the chance) to see Collingwood play Carlton...they had kiss cam. Picture, if you dare, some Collingwood's finest fans into it. Give me Sweet Caroline over that any day.

I seriously hate Sweet Caroline... it's 132.5% irrelevant. (Yes, I used the calculator.)

I vote for up there for Sydney. Play it at 1/4 time AND 3/4 time.

None of the song suggestions in this thread are relevant to anyone under 45. If you're trying to attract new people, all I can say is that it's a massive turn off to hear music that's on constant rotation on commercial radio. It feels so cheap.

Please no. Up There For Sydney is a rip off of Up There Cazaly and a blight on our club. All it does is remind me of that ugly period when they wanted to forget about where the club had come from. Let for get it and move on. If you're going to play that you might as well play Up There Cazaly.

As for all of those 'football songs'.....naff. That Glen Shorrock one still makes me retch.
                                Pub rock, yawn.
If there has to be a song (relevant or otherwise), something with some energy. Pump It Up - Elvis Costello. Fast Cars - The Buzzcocks. Ray Gun - The Morels.

I do think there's some value in standing, stretching the legs, sharing impressions with those around you. It's as though they think we'll become all disorientated if we aren't bombarded with noise and advertising.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.
The Scarlatti Tilt - Richard Brautigan
