    Isn?t that the same thing?

And they did. It was called ?Up There for Sydney?.

And it was eventually replaced with the old one.

Because it was better. And we like our history.

That's what I was thinking......history stays the same. Traditions can change....but as you said, "we like our history", so we shouldn't change for change sake.

This is all pretty weird for me.
        Different opinions I guess.
        Change dictates tradition and history.
Without constant development of history, we only have ancient history.

I remember when the Swans moved to Sydney. New opera House jumper is revealed. Everyone hated it.
The argument would have been history and tradition.
Not it is firmly solidified as a part of the Swans history.
People hate change, until they love it.

So you have just recited Swans history, yes?
You like our history. You like that the Swans did not have Up There With Sydney as their song.

In 2011 Pop Evil released "In The Big House" for the Michigan Wolverines.
        It went off.
The Swans should explore all avenues of further pumping up the club.

Sorry but to me that is just lyrical waxing of philosophical BS. Sounds pretty. But is essentially meaningless prattle IMO.

Yes. Yes. Not sure about the 3rd point. I didn?t not like it. I just like the traditional song better.

Apples and oranges. The Swans are not the Michigan Wolverines. And for what it?s worth (and, like your Wolverines analogy, it?s worth stuff all) the University of Notre Dame ?fight song/Victory March? has been used by their collegiate teams (including their Football team) since the turn of last century, without much need for change. It?s a pretty catchy tune that went off then and still goes off now.

Well, since you raised those valid and tangible rebuttals to my argument I'm left with no option but to withdraw my entire point of view...

But seriously, there is clearly no point continuing this. May as well discuss religion. Probably have more open minds around that discussion.

                Why so aggressive 09?

That seemed to escalate for no reason.

                  Oh come on peeps.
Sweet Carolline has nothing to do with the history of the club.
It's only purpose is for 30-odd thousand people to go "nah nah nah" during the chorus.
If they REALLY want people to get involved in a singalong at the footy... for god's sake, be Australian and play the Angels "Am I Ever Going to See Your Face Again". You'll hear that singalong from three suburbs away!!
The bottom line is that the singalong sucks and like Elvis, it should leave the building.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

                      It's actually not.
It's a shame they can't see that they have a brand that the could be developing and enhancing rather than diminishing.

It may be just a song to you, but others feel strongly about it. Telling them to get over it won't help.

I read today that the only team using the new version of the song is Richmond. Which makes sense seeing as they were the team that requested a change. I think the AFL got a bit carried away re-recording the other songs.

Or one or two of the musicians are related to Gil.

It was a great song but it has been flogged beyond meaning. Just 'No'. Nothing Swans/Bloods/Souths in it.
