Does the SCG ever have kick to kick these days ?
(Not so) sweet caroline

They don't do it for night games due to the lateness of the finish, so limited to afternoon and twilight games, which we don't play many of in recent years.
Secondly, would depend on the weather, if it's wet which it seems to be every bloody time we play there, then it's a no-goer.Comment

Started the song even later than usual, with the effect of the chorus not being played since the second quarter had started
It can't be that hard co-ordinate the song starting in time for the chorus to be played. Quarter time is a set defined period (5 minutes I believe) so start the timer as soon as the siren goes.
Why do they play Sweet Caroline (perhaps this has already been explained somewhere)? I gather they do it in America but this is not an answer - I still want to know why do they do it there and why do we copy it here?
I didn't understand why they played Daryl Braithwaite's The Horses. I thought this was a Hawthorn thing that they liked to do after some special victories. How has it become a footy song? It's as baffling as Sweet Caroline.
I quite like the idea of having catchy tunes at the footy and at the right times but these choices are bizarre.
As for 'kick to kick', I have never figured out how they decide whether it's on or not. Sometimes they do it at night. It's a complete mystery. I didn't like the guy pre-empting the disgruntlement at there being no kick to kick. The boos are not about him, they are about the killjoy, wet blanket policy.All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

They played sweet bloody caroline at 1/4 time... then played up there for Sydney at 3/4 time.
Up there for Sydney should be played at all the short breaks.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

But completely agree - it should be played at every break.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkCaptain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sectorComment

If you insist on playing the bloody song, play it early so that everyone who wants to sing along can do so before the umpire bounces the ball.
It was as if the umpire was waiting for the song to finish... and on the replay, it sounded like it sounded at the ground... almost silent.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

In the members season review it has been my #1 complaint since SC started.
Surely we can get an Aussie anthem like H&C's Holy Grail or Chisel's Flame Trees or AccaDacca's A long way to the top, instead of an insipid US ballad from a very dated artist.Comment

It should/could be a different song every match. This would add mystery to its delivery and conversation among fans about its relevance.
The club could conduct an online poll of three or four selected options before each match with the winner only unveiled as the speakers turn up.
Criteria:
* Australian
* Good song
* Expected that a large number of people know it well
* Big chorus
* Somewhat related (even obscurely) to athletic endeavour, striving to achieve the best, pride, unity, community,
Some personal nominations:
* Pleasure and Pain - Divinyls
* We Can Get Together - Icehouse
* King of the Mountain - Midnight Oil
* Something So Strong - Crowded House
* Forever Now - Cold Chisel
* Wings of an Eagle - Russell Morris
* Don't Dream Its Over - Crowded House
* Solid Rock - Goanna
* Throw Your Arms Around Me - Hunters and Collectors
* It's A Long Way to the Top - AC/DC
* Best Years of our Lives - Richard Clapton
* Take a Long Line - Angels
* By My Side - INXS
Just saying. I could go on but you guys probably all have good ideas as well.Comment

"I only take what's mine!"
Australian? Tick
A large number of people know it well? Surely every Swans fan knows it. Tick
Big chorus? "I only take what's mine! Take them high! Take them low! I do it all the time ..."" catchy or what? Tick
Somewhat related? somewhat?! Next to Up There Cazaly, has there been a better song penned?? Tick!
Good song? Just ask the Wiz!Last edited by goswannies; 14 June 2017, 04:03 PM.Comment

Well, if you're not going to take your nominations seriously why bother? I mean seriously,
