I love singing to Sweet Caroline at the games and said so in the survey I received from the Swans yesterday.

      I like it too.
      It's silly. A diversion.
Not meant to pump us or the players up, just a bit of fun.

One tweet yesterday said they contacted the Swans for comment and received the reply that it will be on for the rest of the season and will be reviewed at the end of the year along with all match day activities.

Regardless of whether you like it or not, does anyone know the relevance of this song to the Swans/SCG/Sydney/AFL???

I don't think that it has any relevance. I think it's more the fact that somebody went to a Boston Red Sox game, liked what they heard and decided to copy the idea. No idea who that was.

Should've gone to a Notre Dame game, like President Bartlet.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

It's fascinating that there is no strong tie, yet it perpetuates.

What's more interesting is how ignorant the Swans seem to be to their target demographic.
Seems they thing it is 40+ middle aged women with that song choice.

I like the song, well I used to like it. Nothing personal against the song, just seems WAY out of place in a "footy, mate" environment.
You need to market to your demographic, and they aren't

True. And while the camera can continually find people wanting their 5 seconds of fame, they will continue to play it.

Maybe the anti SC faction should start turning their backs when the song is playing, to indicate displeasure.

                            haha. Good idea.
It wouldn't matter. The cameras are always searching for action, a bunch of backs would not get any airplay.

On The way to the game last week I overheard a pompous teen lecturing his friend about the tradition behind SC
Apparently back when we were the 'North Melbourne Swans' we played on Caroline Oval as our home ground

I wasn't sure whether to laugh at him or take his membership away
