No we will lose this way:

Swans come out firing for 10-15 mins.

We kick 3 quick goals, 2 of them from buddy

At the 15 min mark the hawks start winning possession out of the middle after Sinclair has his go in the ruck. All our mids will try and win the clearances leaving Hodge and someone else free out the back swooping on the free balland kicking pin point 12 metre passes to their runners in Hill etc

They kick a few goals to even it up and a real contest is on offer!

During this time the ch7 commentary team will perform mental gymnastics about the hawks being the best-evah and Hodge being the bestest bloke to ever walk this earth, Bruce will just being gooing at the sight of the hawks and cyril.

Cameron Ling will shout something predicable and cliche into the mic. Richo will say I agree and Bruce will ask a hypothetical that no one will answer. He will then flirt with Carey and the commentators will laugh.

Same will happen in the 2nd qrt and we will go into half time with a 3 point lead after an arm struggle.

We start the 3rd a bit slowly but kick a few goals and miss a fair few gettable goals, but at the 10th minute mark we lead the hawks by 18.

Around the 10-15th minute mark Stevic gets involved. In the space of 5 mins he award the hawks 3 free kicks in front of goals, 2 to poppys for dubious "Selwood Hewitt" type head highs and one to gunston for the most technical of free kicks.

Hawks are now in front when umpire Scmidt pings Sinclair for a ruck infringement and then a 50 for "east west" stepping over the mark..hawks by 6.

Stevic again finds a free kick in the fwd 50 and bang another goal to the hawks.

At this stage the hawks sense stevic will not pay the swans anything and then basically start to dominate in every facet and just run the ball out with ease and use pin point 10 metres passes. Stevic calls them a mark.

Before we know it hawks pile on 6 goals and go into the final break with a 36 point lead and we wonder how the hell did we allow hawks back into the game.

Stevic at the centre bounce has a massive grin on his face knowing his favourite team (this is fact, stevic is a hawk supporter) wont loose now and that he has done his part for clarko.

With 2 mins to go and the hawks up by 4 goals Stevic and Nicholls start paying doft technical free kicks to Sydney. In the space of 2 mins the swans win 5 free kicks and the free kick count doesnt look that bad, they also kick a few goals but its too late game is over.

Hawks win by 3 goals in the end.

Thats footy and we all have to shut up and accept it because complaining about corrupt umpiring is against the code of being a subversive good little AFL fan. Only allowed to boo indigenous champions ya see, umpires are sacrosanct.

Have you consider copyright it in case AFL send your scenario to the umps and Ch 7? There could be big bucks in it.

hehe I watch too much footy and the game is one predicable fest. If i didnt love the swans so much i would laugh at how predicable the whole thing is.

BTW when did Jones get ink on his arm? and why do we have a few players with ugly sleeve tats? We went from being cleanskin to now becoming collingwood. Gee i dont like tats at all.

Jones had his forearm done in the off season (I think) but had the rest of the sleeve done during the bye round. I guess he wants to be like his brother. I'm not a fan of it either but it's up to the club and the player I guess. I don't think we're anywhere near Collingwood or Brisbane with our tatted players. Having said that, it does look to be a trend that's on the wane.

Not a huge fan of most tattoos. At least you can see what Jones actually has.
My biggest bugbear is that you can't read old English text, or other fonts on skin, or worse still, you can't tell what an image is.
You mention Jones and I can tell you a bit about his arm piece. Mention Dane Swan and I couldn't tell you anything about his jumbled mess.
But then again, I don't either of them really care what I like and don't like about their tattoos.

They really dont like us down here in the VFL heart land.

After an impressive win in a fortress and in the manner we did it, the VFL footy shows decide to spend not even a minute on us and when they did it was all about Geelong.

Yep just good old VFL as they want it. I mean we "interstaters" should be privilaged to be playing in such an elite and well run competition.

Every time a vic supporter ask me who we are playing and its a vic side at home, I tell them "Interstate side, either Carlton or the hawks" and then laugh internally as i see their face go a McGuire shade of purple as they tell me how Vic sides are not interstate at all, which i tell them that they are when they play Sydney at the SCG, smile and then shrug my shoulders. The look on their faces is priceless.

He's probably referring to the Melbourne media coverage of the Swans vs. Cats game. It doesn't surprise me and honestly, I wouldn't care less.

Thanks Faunac8 for finding this treasure of an article. A terrific piece, told with honesty and great respect. A wonderful testimony to the club's roots, still feeding the plant that grew from them.

And absolutely in the right place.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

There were many positives that came out of Friday night but for me the one that stands out is that we finally have a ruckman. I had forgotten what one looked like in red and white. Come finals I am hoping that Naismith can take the bulk of the ruck work allowing Tippo to hang around the goal square with Papley at his feet and Rohan and Buddy and Heeney on the half forward line. This should be our default forward line IMO. Since Tippett has been number one ruck and even more since he has been injured we have being playing Buddy at FF watching him get double teamed and then seeing the ball rebound far too easily.

WTF are you on about? The VFL media devote no time to our game in a football program that is suppose to be about the national game, instead focusing on lesser vic based teams despite the fact that we have been the only side to beat the cats twice at their fortress in the last decade and that this game was between two heavy weight contenders. And the time spent on the game was about how the cats lost and not how the swans won.

Until things change and the league stop having a melbourne bias I will refer to it as VFL.

He's right, I missed Seven's 'Gameday', but watched Nine's 'Footy Show', it was right near the end, and they virtually said 'we don't want to talk about this one too much, because Geelong lost', then gave the votes and moved on. It was shamefully pathetic.....

Living in Vic. & being a supporter of an "inter-state" team, I gave up watching Melbourne AFL shows many years ago.
