I sat next to him a few months ago for the whole of the Brisbane game and a bit more. Nothing stronger than a Singha was required to cross my lips.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I spoke to a Giant on Tuesday who lives in the same building as me and asked him if he wasn't selected in the seniors was he getting the weekend off to go home. He said there was talk that they may have a scratch match with the Swans. It would make sense if the Swans wanted to get a game into some fringe players, maybe even Reid. GWS certainly would like to give the likes of Hoskin-Elliot a run. Haven't seen anything to suggest it will happen though...

We've had to rely on so many of them at the same time that I remain surprised and super impressed by just how well the team has performed so far this year. Richards and Foote have only had the one chance each yet, but they slotted in fine as well. I thought Richards was just about our best player for the first half last week, before fading after half-time.
My thoughts exactly. Says a lot about management. Says a lot about Rhyce Shaw I would expect.

Don't think we are "fine" at this stage. Taking Macca is work/life balance. He is a fine captain, and Kizz would have enough on his plate with all those kiddies in the team, so the captain balance is probably better served with Macca on deck. On the ground, not so sure, but have faith in our mob to get it right.

I think our ruckmen will be enough to have Eddie schrieking into his scarf. They are not bad are they. Even for grownups.

I'm still a relative newcomer to the inner workings of an AFL team so if this is a dumb question.....

Why do some teams name an extended bench and other don't?

                  Is it because
                  - they can
                  - there are minor injuries they haven't told us about
                  - they're not sure if a player such as McVeigh is completely right to go
                  - it's a game on the other side of the country.

                  ??

                      Lies. Lies. Lies.

I've got a reputation to uphold. Don't go destroying it.

As I remember, you were taken to hospital and had to be put into an induced coma for 3 days. Lucky that Harry Cunningham came to visit and talked the doctors out of taking you off life support.

As the teams are named on Thursday, all teams that are scheduled to play on the Sunday are allowed to name an extended bench.
In other words they don't have to name the emergencies until Friday afternoon.

Yes apparently there will be a scratch match between our reserves and GWS's this weekend - apparently SFL teams supplying top ups to both teams have been informed.

                              Umpires are
                              Jeff Dalgleish
                              Shaun Ryan
                              Brent Wallace

Dalgleish is from WA but he seems to be a WCE supporter. He umpired us last week - seemed ok to me
Ryan - same umpire that gave the 50m free against KJ in the Hawthorn game
Wallace - from Victoria but fairly new to umpiring senior level

Ben Cousins wanted to move in with me, but I told him he needed to get some more runs on the board first. He's working on it.
