So, am I right in thinking, that as well us playing fourth placed GWS in western Sydney, second placed Geelong travel to the MCG to play the undead ones?

The undead will play 1st final at their home ground. If the win, the prelim and grand final will be at their home ground (no travel all series).
If they lose 1st final they will have next final at their home ground, prelim in sydney and grand final back at home.

But the vic clubs demand a level playing field.

If they priced it ok they could get a big crowd. Would be memorable with 65k plus.

If we had a time machine we could change what happened in 2014 also - no hope the AFL will actually price it well.

For once I agree with Barry - Level 6 should be made dirt cheap to try and get the marginal punters in.

Marginal punters? Is that what you call swans members now?.
            Wow.

I think he means people who might have a casual interest in AFL, but not members. Let's face it, the bolted on Sydney & GWS members will show up, even if they have to sell a child or two. But casual sports fans who might think a derby final is a fun night, will be put off by high prices.

Great home ground advantage. Never played at the place all year!! They saying the expected crowd is going to be 50,000 plus and SCG holds
only 45,000 so we need to change the venue. Will they say the same at Skilled Stadium for the Geelong home final??

Yep. The number 1 goal of any final should be to maximise the crowd and money for the AFL

The joint will struggle to pull 50,000 .
                    AFL stuffed it .
Doesn't matter what the prices are, there are so many who just won't go there .

ANZ Stadium rears its ugly head.

ANZ is harder for me to get to, but 3:20 is the perfect time to get there.

Anyone have any tips for riding from Mascot area? I'm thinking of following the Cooks river to the end, but it gets a bit sketchy from there.

The wiki says bike parking at the station sometimes gets closed down. Anyone got any good tips?

You really can be a tosser when you want to be, can't you Barry?

My comment was, unsurprisingly, in line with what Beerman said - those with a casual interest in the game, but are not 'rusted on' - hence clearly the most price elastic of the lot. Those are the ones that will make the difference between a 35-40K crowd (my estimate of what the game will get) and a 50K + game.

Your constant pot shots at Swans Members is all a bit rich coming from someone that isn't one....

I don't really think that Swans members would sell their children, if that's what you mean. Otherwise serious.

ANZ can get a decent crowd (60k) but how great would it be to sell the place out and get a crowd of 80k pumping? To do that, the AFL will have to get casual footy fans to attend, who might balk at the high prices that have been charged in the past.

It only holds about 75k in AFL mode. Maybe a sellout is dreaming but weve never had 70k AFL members in sydney before either. Who knows

Maybe we need a crowd prediction thread! But it's not that hard to generate some estimates.

A "big" SCG crowd is around 40 000. A "big" Spotless crowd is around 20 000. But that's when it's doubled by Swans fans More typically it's around 10 000.

So if everyone who ever goes to the SCG attends, plus everyone who ever goes to Spotless, plus some ANZ members, plus some "casuals", plus some non-NSW members, minus overlaps: you're looking at an upper limit of around 60 000.

If you assume half a large SCG crowd, everyone from Spotless, ANZ members and a small-ish number of others, lower limit maybe 40 000?

AFL have stated the potential for more than SCG capacity (48 000), so I guess that's the figure on which they will be judged.
