So if everyone who ever goes to the SCG attends, plus everyone who ever goes to Spotless, plus some ANZ members, plus some "casuals", plus some non-NSW members, minus overlaps: you're looking at an upper limit of around 60 000.

If you assume half a large SCG crowd, everyone from Spotless, ANZ members and a small-ish number of others, lower limit maybe 40 000?

AFL have stated the potential for more than SCG capacity (48 000), so I guess that's the figure on which they will be judged.
Yep, McLachlan told the ABC on Saturday that he expected the crowd figure to have a '5 in front of it'. That number was given to justify making us play at Homebush. If the crowd figure is under that, it's been for nothing and we've been screwed.

We've been screwed anyway cos the AFL will give away tickets to everyone and anyone to get a crowd. Secondly it is big of the AFL to say swans can have a Friday night prelim, that will be futile if we lose week 1.
      Imagine this:

Week 1 - Sat afternoon - win - prelim Friday night - win - 7 days prior to GF - great outcome
      Or
Week 1 - Sat afternoon - lose - play week 2 - has to be sat night again - win - play prelim - has to be sat - win - short break to GF. Prelim most likely against damn Hawks

      Great reward for minor premiers.

Must win week 1 against GWS but will then prob play Hawks in prelim - yuk

As long as the cats win the rest will sort itself out.

$35 seats is probably in the right sort of range to get some marginals thought the gate. Membership figures aren't much help, lots of pets, babies and people with extra seats that may not take up that luxury in finals.

Promote the crap out of it for a fortnight and sydney might wake up to it.

          If it's dry....46,566

          If it's wet.....37,785

The AFL have disregarded the vast majority of Swans members, who would love nothing more than a qualifying final at their home ground.... a packed SCG...

A right their team earned by winning the minor premiership.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Well here's a tip don't voice your thoughts on Collingwood failing and our gripe about ANZ on Titus o'reillys facebook page - Whilst Titus feels the same as we do - I've been crucified and called some delightful things by some on there because I had an opinion on the ground that resembles a Lego land base rather than a pristine footy oval - my goodness it was rather nasty - and try and argue without resorting to name calling & profanity you just won't win.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

$5 Daily Telegraph tickets is pretty much the only way this game will get more than 50k punters through the gates.

Don't worry Barry. Whilst I love the SCG I love the swans more and I'll be at the qualifying final along with my kids.

I think the majority of swans members will turn up to ANZ

Yes, you would have to hope people support the team rather than a stadium...

Other than the venue, which shouldn't keep people away for a one-off game, there are a few other things that potentially hurt. Many people fork out their money for season tickets and then struggle to afford finals tickets on top of that. Additionally, unlike during the season when you know when our games are and can plan your year, we don't know when we're going to be scheduled. I know that I couldn't have made Thursday or Friday, for example, because of interstate work commitments. Others will have cricket, as the season starts for many that day. And so on.

History says no they wont. No point arguing that, its fact. So let it be.

But in this instance we have a few things in favour of them coming
                        - No longer any need to protest by boycott. This is the last game there.
                        - Its an "event" being NSW only final. Sydney loves an event.
                        - Some, not all, may have some nostalgic reason to farewell part of our history of the last 14 years. Much like the maligned VFL park did.

                        Crowds:
                        40,000+ bad
                        50,000+ ok
                        60,000+ good
                        70,000+ Lets break the record.

With this game now scheduled at ANZ it really is a win, win for you and your painful carry on.
If the crowd is under 50k you will be on here bleating on about how fickle Swans fans are for not attending, and if it's over 50k you will be on here gloating about what a victory it is for the west and the "grand old lady of Australian sport" and how the Swans have let everyone on earth bar the latte sipping Eastern suburbs set down for taking the game away from there.

Everyone on here bitched and moaned till Matt80 got banned yet this baiting troll is allowed to keep posting! Go figure.....

Whatever ramifications come out of the crowd figure it will be short lived. ANZ will never host an AFL game again.

I'm not trolling at all. If ANZ was an ongoing concern, and I was still an ANZ member then, maybe, that could be argued.

But now its all about maximizing the support for the swans in a must win final.

That seems a bit harsh to me. Barry certainly does enjoy arguing the less popular view about the stadium but he never attacks anyone.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
