Regardless of who we draft I think it is fair to say our list management is in tip top shape.

The only significant players coming out of contract in 2017 are Heeney, Jones, JPK and Reid. The first three we should be able to accommodate you'd think with the cash freed up by Mitchell being lured by the Hawks. A hit we needed to take I feel. Reid we can accommodate but he needs to prove he is worth $500,000 plus a year. I can see us tying up the first three over the summer. At the very least we'll get good currency out of Reid if he does leave.

At the end of 2018 we'll have Aliir, Mills, Hewett and Lloyd due for new deals and the Tippett cash freed up should allow us to upgrade their deals and by then Buddy's salary will merely be in the elite category and comparable with the best players at most clubs.

Sure if we had a crystal ball we may not have signed Tippo but I suggest it has all worked out OK

His body take one hell of a pounding week in week out, may need down the track to give him a well earn rest.

A certain kind of midfield, like the Bont and Fyfe, are huge, quick, mobile and skilful.

We the find one of this prototypes to learn from JPK, and Logue at 193cm 92 kgs fit the bill.

Sydney Swans Academy nominations ? Darcy Baron-Hay, Jake Brown, Ryan Hebron, Callum McFadden, Ned Reinhard, Matthew Wilson.

I thought it was interesting where the academy nominations for each club came from. For us, 5/6 seem to be from Sydney, with McFadden coming from the south coast. With Brisbane and Gold Coast, most of their nominations come from Brisbane and Gold Coast respectively. However, with GWS, none of their nominations come from western Sydney, or even Sydney.
Instead, they're boldly developing talent from Albury, Canberra and Broken Hill. And as far as I know, they're yet to even sign a player from Sydney. Something tells me that they're not looking very hard.

Well since it is hard to keep players in NSW and QLD this may come back to bite them. I think its better that we develop and recruit local talent .

He is living in the same city and working in the same place as his brother for the last 4 years, but says he misses his family. I believe Ted is working for a Sydney company now. I wonder what Ted must be thinking?



I also wonder which friends and family he's missing so much? Maybe someone should tell him about the telephone. Start slowly and then introduce him to Skype. At 23 years old, what does he need to do with his parents that he can't already do from Sydney? After 4 years at a footy club you would think he would have a few new friends.

This will obviously cause many emotional issues and cause him to develop an unhealthy co-dependant relationship with his manager who assumes the role of parent.
I am assuming that, now that he has crapped in his Swans nest (to extend the metaphor) he will have to move in with his manager who will return from work each evening to find X on the PlayStation asking him "what is for dinner?".
By the way, does anyone have any ideas on how I can move my two?

Get them to try out for Hawthorn. They will be knocked back and Brisbane will take them.

1. Convert one of their bedrooms into a home office or den or library or man cave. Just hire the tradesmen and get it done while they are out of the house.
2. Start walking around naked at home and keep music like the best of Wham!, Womack & Womack or Milli Vanilli on high rotation. If possible, sing along with the music loudly while wiggling your butt.
3. Charge rent. Increase it on a weekly basis. Another $10 p.w/week ought to crack them fast.
4. Put a password on the Wi-Fi and don't tell them what it is.

If none of the above works, then changing the locks is tried but true.

How does this work? Did the swans nominate them for the draft, or did they do it themselves?

The Swans nominated them. The following explains:

'Academy Players Rule
On Monday, October 31, 2016, by 2pm eligible clubs must lodge with the AFL a list of draft-eligible Academy Players it wishes to consider for inclusion on its Primary List or Rookie List. At the National Draft meeting in conjunction with Father-Son bidding nominations,
each Club may ?bid? for the player.'

And:

'Academy Pre-Selected
Player Nominations
A Club may include one or more eligible Academy players on its Rookie List during the period between the NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft Selection Meeting and the start of the NAB AFL Rookie Draft Selection Meeting, provided that the requirements are fulfilled.'

The Swans may not be planning to draft any of the nominated academy players but possibly intend to rookie list one or more if they are not picked by other clubs in the main draft.

To be pedantic, I presume the players nominate themselves for the draft and the Club nominates them as 'Academy' players that they might wish to recruit.

It's not clear from what you have posted whether, if we take advantage of the opportunity to rookie list academy players, we lose our first spot in the rookie draft.

I think X'S brainfade in the finals when running into an open goal was seen by every recruiter.

And X was X'ed instantly.

I don't think this had anything to do with it. It sounds like he just doesn't want to live in Sydney any more and he doesn't care if that's the end of his AFL career: Ex-Swan Xavier Richards 'not fazed' if he misses out - AFL.com.au. I respect that. Especially since he wants to prioritise friends and family. My friends and family are much more important to me than my career. Just so long as I'm earning a living, I'm happy.

I respect that. Especially since he wants to prioritise friends and family. My friends and family are much more important to me than my career. Just so long as I'm earning a living, I'm happy.

I think Xav has just decided that an AFL career is not the be all and end all for him, it's not for everyone and it's a tough slog for those at his end of the food hain (cue someone coming on here and saying that as a 22yo he should feel grateful to earn the salary he does). As it is he has played 12 games and an AFL Grand Final.

Respect to Xav for being walking to the beat of his own drum, he does come across as a pretty deep thinking sort of fellow and I wish him all the best whatever he does
