I wonder when that was filmed? He sounded confident that he was going to be around next season

          re Hiscox and Brandon

i wonder if the reduction in interchange is affecting the coaching view of their current vs future player list

with the blood rule issues i wonder if this will change again for 2017 and or if we drop down again in interchange........

we appear a little skinny on outside players still me thinks hence the retention on peanuts for Hiscox and Brandon

with the way that GWS and Bulldogs have been taking on the game so effectively from the backline (in huge numbers flooding forward) with speed ala Port a few years ago i suspect that hard running outside players will continue to be needed..............even at a development level such as Hiscox

i have watched Hiscox play a few ressie games.........i think he still has potential for improvement and probably compliments our plan in the Draft

i will give him this........ he plays with gut running passion and he appears in body language always eager

Roos said in general we recruit on 3 major qualities - cardio, skill and attitude

Hiscox is no dummy and may sneak up in his development as he will now be a senior in the team after loosing so many ressies to the Snr roster for 2017 and he may relish this role??

I ran into Abe at the Chiang Rai Shopping Mall yesterday and we had a little chat. He's definitely been offered a contract, so I'm not worried. I even took a photo of him to show you I'm not fibbing.

What I'm really grieving about is the loss of Tom Derickx.

Lucky you. Harry Cunningham's contracted through 2019. You've got to help me find a new whipping boy.

Now listen here young whippersnapper, you can't beat the classics.

Alternatively, I'm hoping Tony gets drafted by the Demons so they can for a Tony Olango and Gawn ruck partnership.

HC through to 2019. We are finally serious about winning a NEAFL flag.

                    Correction of Correction.

As it turns out, the AFL in fact did waive the first round pick rule for Geelong in the Tuohy trade, but not because of the 2 successive future 1st round picks traded out, but rather because it would be their 3rd year without a first rounder.

I copied this from the Age article on the matter.

A surprise AFL ruling has opened up the path for Geelong to secure Zach Tuohy from Carlton after the Cats were given unexpected permission to trade another first-round draft pick.
Geelong will give up their first-round pick next year as well as other draft picks this year and get Tuohy and draft picks back from Carlton in the deal.

The deal, if it goes through, will mean Geelong will not have had a first-round pick in three successive drafts.
The surprise move to be able to trade a future first-round pick was given AFL approval after clubs - including Geelong - believed they were precluded from trading another future first-round pick given they had last year traded out of this year's first round.

I just read this on the AFL website Ten things we learned from the Trade Period - AFL.com.au
"Sometimes a rule is there but often it's little known until the trade period is in progress (think of the Sydney Swans' trade ban for example)... Even given that clubs are never happy, the important thing is that the punters understand the rationale for each decision."

                        I am speechless. Seriously WTF

That would be nice. And it may even entice a Dennis Cometti comeback. He'd be sitting at home watching a Demons game, while none of the new Channel 7 commentary team made the connection. Eventually he'd be yelling to the screen, "Oh, FFS, this is doing my head in! I'm flying to Melbourne!"

I share the shock. Especially when you add the final words: "Even given that clubs are never happy, the important thing is that the punters understand the rationale for each decision." WTH were they playing at?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Geelong can always trade back into the first round next year with players or lower picks. The question is what is the penalty if they do not or have they been exempted and does that mean any club can ignore this rule in the future? AFL please explain!

So what "little known rule" did we break in order to get a trade ban? Pathetic article. We were banned for not breaking ANY rules. Using our trade ban as an analogy is pure ignorance.
