Their primary list size was only 32 before the draft, so now it stands at 38.

I had a dream last night in which Ted Richards said very firmly he thought X had made a silly decision (yes I'm worried about me too), but Tom Mitchell, who was one of X's housemates, had told X he would get paid much more by a Melbourne club.

Weird dream - but do you think I'm psychic?

Here is an interesting 2013 profile of Darcy Cameron from AFL Draft Central. The last part is interesting when they compare him to Toby Nankervis, but overlooked Rory Lobb.

        2013 DRAFT PROFILE: DARCY CAMERON

        Darcy Cameron (Claremont)
        Height: 203 cm
        Weight: 98 kg
        Player comparison: Dean Cox
        Strengths: Tapwork, athleticism, versatility
        Weaknesses: Age
The times are changing when it comes to AFL recruiting. The premier ruckman in the draft this year going at pick 65 sounds wrong but it is definitely not a reflection of the immense talent Cameron has.
Ten years ago a prospect like Darcy Cameron would be a top ten selection. In the past 10 years the likes of Matthew Leuenberger, Patrick Ryder, Matthew Kreuzer, Ben McEvoy, Nic Naitanui, Daniel Gorringe and Billy Longer have all been top ten selections. But last year the highly rated Brodie Grundy slid to pick 18 and very few 18 year old ruckmen were taken, signalling a change of approach from recruiters who now prefer to pick more mature ruckmen with later selections since young ruckmen take a few years to develop while higher picks can be used on midfielders who tend to be more AFL ready.
Cameron has very good skills for a ruckman. He hits his short targets on most occasions and knows his limitations so he doesn?t make awful mistakes when trying to weight a 50 metre pass into space to a leading forward, instead choosing to kick long to a contest. By hand he is more than capable of finding targets both in close and longer options.
One of the best aspects of Cameron?s game is his tapwork. I rate Cameron as the best ruckman in the draft and that is mainly due to his excellent ruckwork. He uses his long arms to advantage and stretches out fully to get to the ball before the other ruckman. He places the ball well and can tap to all areas. He appears to make space for the midfielders with his taps, much like good midfielders do with their kicking to forwards, placing the ball where he wants them to run to.
WA State academy manager Raff Guadagino labelled Cameron and fellow WA product Scott Jones as ?the best ruckman the WAFL has produced at an Under 18s level since Nic Naitanui?, when speaking to the Courier Mail.
Cameron is quite versatile which is going to benefit him in future years when the AFL caps the number of interchange rotations. Cameron is a ruckman but he can play as a full forward and do a more than serviceable job. He has a size advantage against the key defenders and is strong enough to be able to hold them out in a one on one contest.
His long arms give him a reach advantage and he is capable of taking some very good marks when he stretches out and takes the ball out in front of the backmen. He has been compared to Dean Cox as he has the ability to play well as both a ruckman and a forward, although he lacks the ball winning ability of Cox.
In the Bound For Glory News Rising Stars Phantom Draft, Cameron was taken at pick 65 by Port Adelaide because he provides ruck depth and can develop as a secondary ruck behind Matt Lobbe and to provide another option as a tall forward. While he may not stand out as much as Brody Grundy did last year, the wraps on him by people such as Guadagino are huge.
Cameron will become a very near prospect for any club that is willing to pounce on him and between him and Toby Nankervis, they will fight it out for the top ruck in this draft with the ruck stocks thin for 2013.

Very interesting (and promising), Ludwig. I'm surprised they didn't mention Lobb too. We were hoping to get Lobb before GWS snaffled him just a couple of selections before we took Nank. I'm feeling increasingly pleased with Cameron.

Meg, great to hear from you again! You should share more of your dreams. It's too soon to say whether you're psychic. Sorry. Clearly we're still in your (subconscious) thoughts even if you haven't posted on RWO so much just recently.

The whole X thing intrigues me. He was apparently offered a 2 year contract by the Swans. Knocked it back and sent his manager off to secure a supposedly better deal from a Melb club. That did not come so he goes back to the Swans who say no to a new deal. Then down to Essendon to train without any promises. It's all quite bizarre. It would seem that he is likely to at best get a one year deal on low money with no guarantees at some club.

I wish him well but perhaps he just was poorly advised. A grand final player with some unproven potential who oversold himself remembering he was still running around in the seconds until mid year.

I seem to remember that he said he didn't like Sydney (the city, not the club), and he would not be fazed if he didn't play AFL. He just wanted to go back to Melb.

How can Eddie Mcquire complain about the academy system discount again when Collingwood got both their father/sons at picks in the 50's? I know nobody else bid on them but even so.

Just read an article on The Roar re:

-Hugh McCluggage requesting a trade from the Brisbane Lions 15 mins after he had been picked at #2.
                    - Recruiters thought that the drafting system was flawed when clubs like Hawthorn or GWS could not get the best players and they went to the lower clubs.
                    - Hugh's father bought a OLED TV because black looks better and they thought he was going to Essendon.
                    - Other Brisbane players told him to play at 50% and he would get traded out.

Hopefully the author was having a lend of us and there was no truth in it (although Hugh didn't look happy when picked).

Pre draft from the Claremont Football Manager "I'm getting sick of talking about Darcy because every year I pump him up and every year he doesn't get drafted. If he doesn't get drafted this year I'll quit my job because clearly I know nothing about football"

The ruck whisperer obviously looks at the vision of ruck prospects so would have input into our selection. Everything reads well about Cameron, we may have found one here?

The Swans took their full time allotment before they selected Cameron, and there was some intense discussion at the table, particularly between Longmire and Beatson. Did they have an alternative ruckman they were considering? Or maybe they were debating the likelihood of Cameron slipping through to the rookie draft - knowing that West Coast still had live picks in the ND and a pick before the Swans in the RD (and with WC almost certainly still looking for some cover for NicNat in 2017).

Yes we have recruited some good players, but who did we trade up to get???

If we didn't get the player we wanted, can't really be called a totally success, but that the way the cookie crumbles.

Very interested in the rookie draft, there are some very good picks still left on the table and interesting to see what fall our way.

Yes can't wait to see who our tom papley or jake Lloyd is in the rookie draft this season

Given the home visit by Horse to Florent he must have been a big factor in our aim to move from pick 14

But the top 10 are serious players this season and I'm guessing we had to be in the top 10 to achieve what we wanted with ensuring a player such as Bowes or Florent would fall our way

To have Lloyd and Florent playing similar link inside outside roles will be awesome

Two true gut running wingers opening space around the ball makes us a tough match up

I don't think we traded up to get Florent. I think we figured we'd get a much better player at 9 than 14. There was a lot of talk about Logue until it became clear he'd be gone. Longmire only visited Florent on Sunday.

It's all academic now. Florent can win his own ball and tackle so I'm hoping we drafted well.

The draft was interesting for the gamesmanship that went on, especially our first-round picks and North Melbourne's second-round picks.
