I honestly think the SJ hit was much worse than the Finlayson hit. At least Jones had the ball whereas Kennedy wasn't in possession of the ball. The difference seems to be that Jones was stretchered off and took no further part in the game while Kennedy could return to the field and played relatively well.Comment

'Impact' was the only difference in the grading. Both incidents were assessed as careless and high - but the hit on Kennedy was assessed as medium impact (he passed the concussion test and came back on). The hit on Jones was assessed as high impact as Jones was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital.I honestly think the SJ hit was much worse than the Finlayson hit. On top of that Finlayson had a one-match loading added due to bad record. Johnson was very fortunate that he had one suspension during the relevant two year period but a second one fell just outside it - so technically for this purpose he did not have a 'bad record'.Comment

While it is one of my bugbears that suspensions are largely seem to be judged on injury, rather than intent; I'm not really sure which was worse? Yes, Zak had the ball, but I think that both were attempts to deliberately injure the player.I honestly think the SJ hit was much worse than the Finlayson hit. One thing I do wonder though: was the Johnson hit an inspiration for the Findlayson hit? That is, Johnson was already being lauded for setting a tough, we aren't going to take a backward step attitude, to his younger team mates. So with that in mind, it's quite possible that Findlayson, who was bound to be watching on Saturday, decided to emulate Johnson on Sunday?

I know, that's almost as offensive as, "At no stage did Tippett's head hit the ground".Comment

Well, well, well, the footy gods have delivered their verdict, Stevie J's "dog" act on Kennedy wasn't graded high enough by the MRP so the footy gods decided to do a "dog" act of their own on GWS and deliver a Prelim defeat in the most painful way and at Spotless too.
Stevie J's "dog" act has in all probability dealt this defeat to GWS so he has paid the ultimate price for what he did by having to sit helpless in the stands whilst GWS just failed to grasp their GF berth.
Thanks footy gods, this is better than grading the hit as intentional and giving him two weeks, much, much better! :-)Comment

Been a great finals series so far for me, Hawks out in straight sets and now looking like yesteryears team, the creaming of the Crows was excellent for me being in Adelaide, Geelong's "sell the house" reload failing spectacularly, Stevie probably costing GWS a flag, LOLNorf, and finally getting to play the Dogs in the GF.
Full confidence that we won't let being bookies favourites get to us this time, I'm upbeat - go Swans!Comment
