If we got GWS in the finals - I believe The likes of Mumford & Greene would have to massively tone down their "barging in to knock a person out" antics simply due to the fear of imminent suspension. Both have records so bad now where they can't afford to do so much as fart at someone as it's likely they will cop a week or two. That, I believe, is in every opposition teams favour at this point in time. They still have some sting certainly, but no where near as much as they had earlier in the season (I hope this makes sense!) - I'm in Adelaide next week - hope we get tickets to Friday night!! Otherwise off the the Arkaba hotel I go!!

What if it's the Swans hosting? I know it's unlikely, but we could still finish 4th. If we then win a QF (almost certainly against Adelaide, in Adelaide) we would earn the right to host a PF. And that could well be against the Giants.

I reckon the SCG could find the space for the 20-odd Giants fans who'd shell out the cash for an away finals ticket.

I think the general consensus last year after the final at ANZ was that the crowd was 35K Swans, and 15K Giants and 10K neutral.
You'd expect a similar (or slightly higher) crowd this year if there was an all Sydney final at ANZ.
I reckon if GWS are prepared to play a home final against us at ANZ, then we should be prepared to play them there too if
we earn a home final against them. Assuming they can get the ground itself up to speed, and it fits in with the grounds
other commitments, somehow I can't see the AFL allowing a final between us & GWS to be played anywhere else but at ANZ.
Based on the crowd last year, then a minimum 20,000 people would not be able to go if the game is not played at ANZ.
I can't see the AFL being OK with so many people in Sydney (a market they are trying to grow) not being able to get a ticket.
What we or GWS want or think we've earned (and have earned) will likely play second fiddle to getting as many people as possible
into a stadium.

I find it remarkable that people are talking up Richmond's premiership chances. To win the premiership, Richmond will need to win 3 finals. They have only won two finals in over 30 years and they haven't won a final since 2001. Their bigger finals win since 1982 was by 13 points, a 1995 semi final against Essendon. Their other finals win was by 11 points in 2001 against Carlton. Their last four finals were all losses, which is the longest streak of finals losses in their history.

Statistically, there have been 15 grand finals played between Victorian clubs and non-Victorian clubs.

Non-Victorian clubs currently lead the head-to-head count 8-7.

Actually, in this particular instance 15 is everything. It's is the complete current available sample population of Victorian vs non-Victorian grand final matches.
I'll happily concede that there will likely be a large confidence interval margin of error were a true statistical analysis were to be conducted, however, until a larger population is generated, we have no other data to work with.

In fact, I'd hypothesise that given that throughout the final series (excluding the grand final, of course) the higher ranked team earns a "home" final (and not excluding that nonsensical farce where the Swans were forced to play home finals at the soulless ANZ Stadium), any Victorian venue bias is eliminated from consideration at least up to the grand final.
Thus, the only comparison that can (or needs to) be made is how non-Victorian clubs fare against Victorian clubs on grand final day. With an uneven number of encounters, the margin approximates a 50:50 random chance event pattern, indicative of no real home ground bias at all.
Of course, this must be caveated with the insufficient sample size disclaimer - which is in-turn countered with all available sample population have been included for consideration.

But I'll happily defer to your obvious statistical wisdom and sit in the corner with Tinkerbel.
