Mrs Hotpotato, who's pretty fair minded, has worked a lot in intensive care, on viewing the incident and without actually knowing that Shiel was unable to play out the game said that's a report and he is suspended, irrelevant that there's a Granny next weekend.

My earlier prediction prevailed however. The AFL's bread is not buttered by non Victorian teams. Their allegiance would favour Richmond.
Now they can indeed win or lose with no excuses.

I have no idea what your viewpoint is but you sure seem angry about it.

I am a Swans man and support this club, in this league. I am not interested in any AFL expansion overseas (which really is only about money). The long term security of the sport is not predicated on international expansion. It can maintain a healthy competition that is locally sponsored and supported, it does not gain anything that is necessary for its existence by becoming a global venture (I would argue that it would probably lose something). If other countries want to take up the sport, good for them - I just hope it is not intended as an expansion of the AFL.

Conspiracy theories are bizarre and tiresome - the outcome of the season cannot be known in advance.

I am pissed that the Swans had a meltdown against the Cats, and feel that we have blown a genuine flag opportunity. But I do not blame the AFL for the loss (or the one last year - even if we did get screwed by the umpires on the day).

It just serves so little purpose to rant and rave about the existence of the fanciful.

Sorry, I am angry, injustice is not acceptable in any sphere, especially where people can get hurt.

With the AFL its the screwing by the umpires that is the problem, whether its because of bias or because the the rules are so poorly framed. Sorry mate but there have been a string of idiotic rule changes over the years, its been slow and insidious but it means that even the umpires are often now confused. But the scales seem to most often tip in the one direction.

No one is saying outcomes are known or planned in advance....it's once the home and away season has played out the tinkering begins, usually via rabid local media hysteria for the local side and then the 'vibe' is set. Umpires are human, don't tell me they don't get caught up in it or indeed get the 'vibe' from HQ via their 'director'. You basically acknowledge we were shafted in last years GF. How you can be satisfied with a contrived result like that and in the same breath deny it exists is astounding......even fanciful.

Simple. I don?t think the result was contrived (which, by definition, requires deliberate intent).

Is every badly umpired game a contrivance? For whatever particular reason, the Bulldogs played a brand of football that was rewarded more often than it was penalised. The Hawks did the same for a few years.

It sucks, but I try not to connect every dot just to best suit my argument (which is a contrivance).

Barry and the other GWS supporter certainly have a right to feel aggrieved. But for the rest of us without any skin in the game, I'm happy to see the teams more evenly matched with Cotchin playing, even if the MRP outcome was a fix.

Well said. Couldn't agree more. However in think Richmond will win. And that doesnt sit well.

When they were a powerhouse and desperately wanted John Pitura, the committee of the club gave serious consideration to buying sufficient South Melbourne memberships (only a few thousand) so that they could take over the club and clear Pitura to Richmond for nought. (Documented in a book called "AFL Inc.") Never ever forget the predatory nature of the Richmond club and their famous club secretary who was famous for the brown paper bags he carried around (in a time where paying players was illegal)

You reawakened bad memories TBC. Their supporters were unbearable during their successes in the late sixties and early seventies after being losers for a long period of time. Bit like what's happening now. Will be supporting Crows who should have home ground advantage.
