On the Bob GF situation.....Firstly, who listens to Sam Newman (and Barry for that matter!) and who cares? Secondly, I don't really have a negative opinion about Bob and last years GF. Seething as I was after that game, I thought the Bob thing was a nice touch, considering what he meant to his club and more to the point, I can understand why they did it......they knew deep down they were gifted that Premiership and weren't good enough to win it again (let alone on the day!), which has been proven beyond a doubt this season. That deluded club has been given a reality check and it makes me more pissed off that we were the victims of this AFL sanctioned theft of what was rightfully ours......that's my main feeling about last years GF. If Sam had said 'instead of Bob up there helping hold up the cup, it should have been the AFL Umpires Director", I may have taken note. I look at it as a shameful day where the cheats won, on and off the field and the seriously deluded rejoiced at our expense......The day the AFL exposed itself and shamed itself in the search of a fairytale. Disgusting.......but we won't hold our breath waiting for Sam Newman or any of the Vic based footy media to tell that story.

Yes, I thought Gibson was pretty cool about the whole thing last night. An understated farewell for a guy that had a very successful career.
Clearly rated highly by his own club with a couple B & F's.
Roll on the apocalypse - it's bad enough I agree with Barry but also Sam Newman. Of course I didn't see the show (last watched about 2006) but I thought at the time that Bob's Premiership performance was in great contrast to Stuey Maxfield who stepped aside in 2005 - despite Roos saying he'd play him - for the Swans to win the flag. During the GF celebrations Stuey was circulating on the ground, celebrating with the boys but not on the stage as the non-playing captain. It will be interesting to see if Bob has a legacy with the Dogs as enduring as Stuey's is at the Swans.
Likewise, and again I didn't expect to say this, but Josh Gibson showed great dignity last night - no being chaired off after he didn't play but turned up to walk off the grounds so the fans could acknowledge him.Comment

Seriously Barry, you should just go and barrack for the Giants or the Fairypups if you don't believe we were robbed in last years GF. Speaking of stupid posts......just about all of yours. You rarely come across as a true Swans fan......I keep picturing you sitting all alone at the footy.

The way things are going with the Demons atm, 41 pts down, third quarter half over, we'll be playing Essendon in the first final (they should beat Freo!). I'd rather play Melbourne but we should beat either.....unless we snaffle fifth, in which case we will play Melbourne or WC, if they beat Adelaide which is unlikely.Comment

Actually the Swans' treatment in the GF was raised on SEN earlier in the week and has had some coverage over the course of the year in the Melbourne media.
Somebody, I think Mike Sheahan, said something like: "The Swans' treatment by the umpires in big games needs to be looked at."
Then shortly after Sheahan definitely said: "The Swans were murdered by the umpires in last years Grand Final."
Tim Watson replied: "Well if Longmire had cause to call the Umpires boss after the Grand Final, he must have the bloke on speed dial after Friday night in Adelaide."
There's been a lot of Melbourne media bashing on this site this week. Some justified, but you can't tar them all with the same brush.Comment

Ted Sums up our season - and what is left to go."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
