Home final allocation
1st and 2nd: 2
3rd to 6th: 1
7th and 8: 0
Giants finished 4th, therefore their first final is away. If they win, they will host a preliminary final. If they lose, they will host a semi final. They will host exactly one final.
If they win, there is a mathematical 25% chance that they will host a Sydney derby final. That may be played at the Olympic stadium (I don't use the corporate names, they are too confusing because they keep changing and they are not paying me.)"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Not possible.

The words home final have only come about since Geelong started bleating about their "right" to stage a final at their toy ground, and has since been repeated by that jerk Dave Matthews about GWS's "rights" to a home final. It has always been home state final unless the AFL wants to screw an interstate team or provide GWS with favours it wont give to Sydney.Comment

If GWS lose, they will host port or west coast. Even spotless might be too big.
If they win, and swans charge into a prelim, then it could actually sell out ANZ and the AFL might pull out all strings.
My earlier comment about not having enough time to prep ANZ has now changed because if they win tonight they actually have about 16 days until prelim. And it will be against big clubs... Swans/essendon/Richmond/geelongComment

I seriously can't see any games played at ANZ.
It's over Barry.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I'd be very surprised if a Swans-GWS prelim wasn't played at ANZ. There was story in the Telegraph yesterday with Gill saying
the AFL was prepared to truck in their own turf from Victoria to help make it happen. He said they have the turf ready to
go. You'd have to think the crowd for it would be north of 70,000. Even if it was played at the SCG, 30,000 people missing out
in a developing market will be more than the AFL can stand. An all Sydney prelim at a packed ANZ would be very good for the
code in Sydney. If you've ploughed $100M plus into GWS over the years, plus whatever else the Swans receive, you aren't
going to skimp on a few hundred grand for some grass.Last edited by KTigers; 7 September 2017, 12:43 PM.Comment

The ABC website has an interesting article that rates the chances of each side winning the premiership.

Brodie Smith has done his ACL. Good for us but got to feel for him, especially given his team are currently flag favourites.Comment
