Just on the topic of finals. A couple of guys in the office reckon we crumble during finals? Is there any Truth to that statement??? 2014 GF was disgraceful, 2015 we could blame injuries, 2016, could have been umpired out, but it was a 50/50 call even if fair umpiring occurred. on GF day did not play nowhere near as good as the week before against Geelong. Maybe its a fair call?? What do others think?Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

"A couple guys in the office"? C'mon. Not exactly an authoritative or creditable source. Not like say here on RWO.
2014? It's pretty clear we didn't turn up on the day. No team is really ten goals better than another team, one team
lets off and the other team doesn't and that's how blowouts occur.
2016? The Dogs did win by four goals in the end. Obviously the umpiring went against us, but I'm not sure only that
was enough to give the dogs the win.
I have a feeling we might win this year for the simple reason that the pain of losing three GFs in four years is just
too much for the players to contemplate. They've come so far from 0-and-6, and coming second or fourth or
whatever at this point will seem like a failure. The biggest unknown will be injuries to key players.
I would not want to be an Essendon player in the first quarter on Saturday and I think they know what is coming.

2012 we played our best but had big occation warriors like Goodes, lrt, etc. These guys find a way.
2014 we lost the killer instinct. An embarrassment to a decade of swans before them.
2016 we lost it on many levels. Selection, attitude, umps. But mainly not enough warriors to will there way on the game.Comment

14 finals appearances for 2 premierships, for a 14.2% success rate.
This is roughly par: in any year, eight teams make the finals, one wins the premiership, or 12.5%.
14 finals appearances: eliminated first week: 2 (14.2%), eliminated second week: 5 (35.7%), eliminated third week: 2 (14.2%), lost Grand Final: 3 (21.4%), won premiership: 2 (14.2%).
Par scores: eliminated first week: 25%, eliminated second week: 25%, eliminated third week: 25%, lost Grand Final: 12.5%, won premiership: 12.5%.
We have made it to the preliminary finals in 50% of the finals series, and that is on par. We have won five out of seven preliminary finals we have played this century, and that is better than average. That record alone is clear evidence that Sydney does NOT "crumble in finals"."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Maybe they were getting confused with the Sydney Kings, since they more or less earned their nickname of The Violet Crumbles?Comment
