My concern was how we had no plan B in the first two qtrs and allowed hawthorn to control the game like they were playing a NEAFL team
The game was gone
I find that unacceptable on our home turf against another team low on the table
I don't think we should accept yesterday's coaching....our inferior game plan vs theirs was what put us in the position we were in the first two qtrs
80% of teams behind at the end of qtr 3 lose
We need to have a game plan against a team like yest that puts us in front at half time and 3/4 time to give us the best opportunity to win the last qtr
Then our guys fought toooth and nail to get back in the game
Didn't have much left and almost snuck away with the game .......amazingly
We must be able to adjust our game plan in the parts of the game that matter most and that was the first two qtrs yest
I don't accept catch up inferior game plans against a team like hawthorn yest
That's where I draw the line
Effort and circumstances we played valiantly
Game plan and coaching was poor
Even worse was that it has happened with ten times better hawthorn teams and we should know better
It was like watching a movie on repeat
We have to be smarter at a coaching level
Yesterday's game was absolutely criticalLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; 27 May 2017, 03:57 PM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

Hey maybe with the shackles off and the bye the swans will win the next 12 or at least 10 of them. Who knows but I know if I were a St Kilda fan or a Richmond fan I 'd be more disappointed cos I can't really see any improvement in them from last year and they are not teams with a lot of injuries and who are supposed to be on the move upComment

Agree whole heartedly my goodness we have had some knocks over the last few years (like wrongful trade bans) yet we have played in finals every year since 2009 I bet there are 8 or so other teams that wish they could say that. Injuries have killed us this year but are we so smug as members and fans that we think we automatically should be in finals every year. It's a hard road and swans have rewarded us members and fans very well. Just maybe some of our players like Buddy, Kennedy, Parker Hanners, Grundy, Smith etc who have played finals year after year after year need a mental health break that the pressure of not playing finals brings and along with introducing some new blood and a top draft pick will ultimately benefit us. I have belief that swans will benefit from this year even if it means we have some blow outs in the second half of the season to try and change things and bring in other players. Go Swans!Comment

How in the hell did Rampe make best players. A few knocks over the boundary but he seem to stuff up every time he had the ball in hand. Reid off did not cost us much as he had done SFA up to that point. Should have got a free for the sling tackle though. Biggest loss was Lloyd early as he is the glue in transition. We seemed to have no structure and were lucky to get so close through some brilliance from Buddy and a quick double late from Heeney then we gave itb all up.Comment

I feared for us from the moment Lloyd went down. With Hannebery, he's our best runner. I'm sure we'd have won if he played out the game.Comment

Mills needs a rest or a different role or something. He's struggling big time.Comment

I don't recall a game from Hewett where he's stood up when others haven't. His good games are in wins. Like Towers he hesitates with the ball and gets caught with it too often.Comment

Sinkers and Tippett were both reasonable in the ruck, but neither kicked a goal or had much influence on the game. Tippett was okay around the ground, but we would have been better served with one ruckman and another 'running' player, especially when went down by 2 players.Comment
