Provided Freo beat Saints, we'll be in the 8 at the end of the round. If we can beat Gold Coast next week we'll be almost top 4.

But we got rolling again and finished strongly, I think in better shape than Melbourne, who are struggling with their injury list. Fortunately we appear to be over the worst of ours, touch wood.
Great to see Buddy in good form again, and the beneficiary of a couple of beautifully weighted kicks from Towers. I think he is perhaps our best field kick atm.
Yeah, Towers kicked well long, but terribly inside 50, including for goal. Reckon our best kicks are McVeigh, Franklin, Newman, Heeney, Lloyd (who was a bit wobbly tonight).

A few beers might be jogging my judgement a little at this hour, but we can win the flag this year - make no doubts about it. We need a huge lot to go our way, but we can do it.

Yeah, we're good enough. I actually think we've become a harder team over the course of the year.

Jones has a suspected fractured cheekbone according to BF.

He has been excellent. I have been super critical of Grundy for quite some time (particularly when he voluntarily goes to ground), but give credit where it is due. He has been stellar in our turnaround.

Early on Rampe was so vital. He cut off everything and saved the day often.

Rampe was aided early that he played on an electric but not physically imposing tall player in Jayden Hunt.

I would like to see the Swans being in another key defender like AA, so that Rampe does not have to play on a tallish player. In essence he can become the 4th back tall. He looks like he can give more attacking drive and cover for other players when not burdened by playing on a tall player.

There is no way Melican can be dropped. He is so consistent and has great speed, good marking ability and a good kick.

How AFL clubs let Melican get to the rookie draft is anyone's guess.

Jones is hard enough that he would play a week afte surgery if it was his choice

Great to have a fit McVeigh back. Didn't waste a disposal. I was sitting at ground level and his direction down back gives us a lot more composure. Agree with list above- would add Mills and Melican is also very reliable.

I was sitting up in Melbourne members stand area with a friend who is a Demons supporter. Suffice to say Melbourne supporters were not a happy lot. It was great to see the large number of Swans supporters down the Swans cheer squad end. Even my Demons friends were impressed. Well done you lot - gave the Swans players a great accolade as they left the field at the end.

So there's a likely toll after last night, Mills may not be risked next week, Jones fractured cheekbone/MRP.

Melbourne toll too, Bugg 5+ weeks, Viney has one of those nasty foot ligament thingy's so that may be two more long term to a final 8 rival.

Dawson just a corkie so must be in contention next week and a great chance for someone to light up the ressies today and put their name forward.

Melican looks a find, plucked out in the 50s from memory in the Rookie Draft. To answer Club 80 query, Melican could hardly get a game for the Geelong Falcons U18 because of high profile KPBs, St.Kilda's Goddard one of them I think? His parents were surprised we wanted to draft him according to reports at the time. He was a very young draftee as well.

Against my pre game thoughts, McVeigh was very good, cool head, good foot skills, is a general. Reg excellent again, Melican and Newman have bolstered our defence this year, Rohan good, Buddy damaging, Parker immense he's back!

No reason we can't go deep this year, one game at a time, once we are ahead of the ledger the 0-6 start is irrelevent, we are the form team right now and IMO have a better team than last year plus we are building a little depth. All good!

I was sitting down that end where it was almost all red and white. The players are genuinely thrilled by the reception they get in Melbourne, especially at the end of the game.

I agree with all of that, particularly your conclusion. Jack and Rampe's best games of the year, too.

                                Loved your positive post
Just wondering if you can do a comparison of last years team to this years team to clarify that we are a better team
                                WHO ???
