The Hannebery thing all over the media. He’s got a long term contract so I can’t imagine his manager is shopping him around. Could it be the Swans who think he’s not worth his salary any more?

I’m optimistic about Llooyyyddd but think there will be a big turnover this year and the Swans will have to be active in finding experienced players via trade/free agency. I think we are up to something.

Others have said we can try to draft a ready-to-play midfielder, but it’s not the Swans way to rely upon a first year player like that.

This is a list from SEN of fringe players other clubs should target. For some reason they only suggest Towers at the Swans. Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Anthony Miles and Braydon Preuss are on the list.

The fringe players from your club that should be targeted

        Jack
        Grundy
        Foote
        Rose
        Hannebery

        Rohan
        Towers
        Robinson
        Marsh
        Lloyd

The jungle drums are beating strong about Hannebery. Lloyd is being offered a lot to go elsewhere and Rohan has had a very poor season. The team will look very different next season.

Hard to be too critical of that list.

Unlikely however, that we'll let that many go.

So I'd say that unless there is a good deal for Hanners, he'll stay.
Also, if that many are really going, Lloyd would have to be re-signed.
Alos you'd think that of those on that list, Towers, Rohan might get a reprieve

I think you're listening to the media too much. A few opinions from Talking Footy and On The Couch suggesting we should move players on doesn't mean it's going to happen.

The Hanners one is a funny one. I feel its either a case of 2 + 2 = 11 in the media (i.e. trying to make smoke where there isn't much, solely on the basis of his poor form and an excuse to stir up trouble), or as you suggest it may well be us trying to trade him on - which would suggest we don't think whatever is hampering him is going to get better. I think its the first well and truly, but the 2nd one is not an unrealistic scenario I do not think.

You can't move too many on, we only have 4 worthwhile ND picks. Most of the fringe players on other lists are fringe players for a reason, go onto the various clubs BF boards to get an idea of what these players are like. Almost none would find their way into a senior Swans jumper. This might save Robbo, Foote, KJ etc. Obviously McVeigh and Reg will be line ball. Think most of the rookies will be retained, have shown enough to develop another year.

Gold Coast will not be taking fringe players, they won't get better doing that, they have plenty of fringe players of their own. They want best 22 players with plenty of seasons left in the tank and they have lots of $ in the bank to lure them.

Still think we may do something creative with picks, as others have said, if we could get a pick in before Blakey, nice.

Turn lloyd and newman into May would be awesome
He reads it well and plays good when not suspended

If they want Lloyd and May wants out then why not?

It would be a bad deal because it trades away a valuable player for us in Lloyd and also undermines our own key defenders. We have Aliir and Melican forming a long term KD duo and hopefully AJ can fit in our backline as well. We also have Maibaum developing in the NEAFL, Nick Blakey, who may well be best suited as a defender (forward line full with Franklin, Reid and McCartin) and Josh Raynor coming in the 2019 draft. Bringing in May should push one or two of these players out the door.

                          Agreed.

Reckon we should use any capital on an inside mid.

Do we really need May? With Melican,
Aliir, Rampe and Maibaum. Not usually the swans way to pay big bucks for a key defender.
I would have thought a big inside mid would be more of a priority.
If we are looking to trade Lloyd then he should be part of the plan to get another top 10 pick.

                                May would anchor the defense
Alir Melican and rampe would be creative runners
Imagine losing a running defender in Lloyd and being more creative out of defense
