Good to see Adelaide and GWS making 'em pay!

Wow. Blakey slides to 10 but Thomas and Quaynor get earlier bids than expected. Win, Win, Win!

Yep, this. It's canny trading and a sign of their tremendous professionalism if Hawthorn or Pies do it, rorting and a system failure needing to be fixed if we do it. I confidently await a chorus of squealing.

Slightly different point, but the Melbourne powers will not be satisfied until there is literally no benefit in running the northern academies.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but swapping out our 1st pick to WC before Blakey was bid on ensured that the brunt of matching the points for Blakey came from our subsequent ones. Then swapping with WC again ensured our 1st pick remained pretty strong. I think our recruiting staff are amazing!

Does anyone know if we traded our 2019 second round pick or St Kilda’s? If it’s the former the value seems more reasonable ( based on my expectations of our ability vs the Saints’ in 2019).

That seems to be what we have done, when we knew that Blakey wouldn't go top 6. Did the trade of picks in 2 parts. Watch for the outroar from the AFL and subsequent banning of such things in future years...

                Pretty cool Move
                Trade out
                Trade back in
Protect ur top draft pick and get Blakey

So smart of the club to trade out then back in after we got Blakey. So so clever.
Now watch em change the rules on us next year....

Essentially, Swans upgraded from 26 to 24 by sacrificing 2019 2nd rounder for a 2019 3rd rounder. By doing half the trade before picking Blakey and half the trade after picking Blakey, they were able to keep pick 24 for this year's draft.

We have basically traded down 2nd round to 3rd round and one of the picks in the 30s for pick 10 (Blakey). That’s how I’m reading it

Genius stuff. Loving that Norf & Pies have to now go into future deficit!

It’ll be banned next year now and we’ll probably get a draft ban too!

That's my understanding. We dropped a round next year (where we already had two second rounders, which better explains the Hannebery trade), but effectively gained a round for a live pick this year.

Wonder if there’s any chance RCD could slip to our new pick. Probably not but he was linked to the Giants with the picks they’ve now used on other players. They do still have a pick at 19, or there are plenty of other picks still to be made before we get to pick.

What's the chance of us to trade up further to nab Collier-Dawkins?
