Cheers. Noticed AJ sat on 6 disposals for the second half, hopefully just a management thing.

Here's a bit on 17yo Swaney (on name alone would be a fitting Swan): https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...2c3fcd7e398009.

I don't quite understand it either. We all know that I've been a big fan of O'Riordan from his first year with us. His consistency this year would normally be the thing the coaches would be looking for to warrant a senior start. We've had a few opportunities to bring him into the side, especially since Mills got injured, so it is a bit perplexing.

Good to see Aliir and Rose playing solid footy and putting themselves up for selection as well. Maibaum is putting together a good block of solid performances and now looks more likely than not to make it to AFL level. He was a good prospect when we picked him, so I feel he is fulfilling his potential.

O?Riordan?s improvement this year, particularly his defensive of his game has been noticeable and I think would stand up in the seniors. Whether the Swans can and are willing to find a spot for him with the current lineup is another issue.
Agree 100% with this I hadnt noticed O'Riordan much until last week but really enjoyed his game, good user, his positioning was very good reminded me of another HB who played a few games for us and could do a mean jig.

Stoddart was brought in to play a forward pressure role. I presume the club thought him better suited to that than O'Riordan was.

If O'Riordan were to play he would have to take the place of one of the current back 7 - Rampe Grundy Marsh Smith Lloyd McVeigh Jones. My thoughts before last night's game was that perhaps Jones could be shifted into the midfield but Zak was very good last night. Some might suggest Marsh make way for him but Marsh is playing as our third tall defender at the moment and I don't that's a role that suits O'Riordan. He is untested up forward and I'm not sure he would be any good in this role anyway.

Therefore, I don't see O'Riordan getting a game soon barring some injury or suspension.

                        6: Tom Salter (Redland)
                        6: Nic Newman (Sydney)
                        5: James Rose (Sydney)
                        5: Colin O?Riordan (Sydney)
                        4: Jack Rolls (Redland)

                        2: Aliir Aliir (Sydney)

I think this is the only combination, happy to be proved wrong.

Anyone able to watch, have an interpretation on Alex's game and how he is moving? Week to week progression?

                            Cheers

AJ is a big unit with a big voice. He offers plenty of encouragement to all the players. When he got ball in hand he was well balanced and used it very thoughtfully. I felt he didn?t quite have the engine needed to play at the highest level. This makes sense given the injuries. In a nutshell if he could get very match fit, and manage to impact a game for the full duration, I actually think he would be awesome.

AJ seems to be looking a tad "chunky" to me. I hope his inability to train at 100% in the last couple of seasons hasn't hampered his fitness and in-turn his performance. I can't help but think that maybe one more year on his contract might see him get his fitness up and see him at his optimum performance.
