    Halftime

    @swansreserves 8.3 (51)
    @CanberraDemons 5.5 (35)

    Goals: Rohan 3 Bell 2 Brown Stoddart Ellem
    Canberra: Fulford 2 Maguire Smout Paech

    This is far from over, the Demons had a run of 3 consecutive goals and looked dangerous.

      Possibly underestimated Canberra that quarter and tried too often to run through tackles. Spread it a bit more and superior fitness should see the margin increase.
      Nice to see Rohan kicking straight. Marsh and Stoddart have been good. And of the toppies, I've liked some of the things that Stern and Stewart have done.

          I take that back - Darcy Cameron looks awesome. He's ready if we need him.

                Darcy Cameron was outstanding in the ruck, around the ground and up forward resting. He is quality tall who we need to keep as he has skills that are hard to find. Good to see Rohan running into some form too. Great win by the team, over 50 points against Canberra. Now onto Grand Final and hopefully the first NEAFL win for quite a few years after some close losses in the last 2.

                    Yes, Cameron does dominate at NEAFL level. Today he had 165 dream team points, which is only a bit above his season average of 144 points.

                      Swans win 118-62

                      A good team performance with many positive individual efforts.

                      • I thought O'Riordan was BOG. I would feel very comfortable with him coming into the senior side if we win today.
                      • Cameron could be BOG as well, but we can probably say that about him every week. Consistently performs at a high level, both in the ruck and around the ground.
                      • Rose was very active. He got plenty of the ball and was dangerous around the forward line. He's had a good year and would be inclined to keep him on the list, even if it means dropping him to the rookie list.
                      • Probably the best game I've seen from Maibaum. I'm feeling more confident that he's going to make it as an AFL player. Very steady and showed good skills and decision making.
                      • Jake Brown also had an active and solid game. He's a tireless worker and heading in the right direction. Should be a certainty for another year on our list.
                      • Bell again shows his class, but I'd like to see him work harder around the contest.
                      • Rohan kicked 3 goals and showed he has AFL talent, but again was not seen often enough for a NEAFL game. He should be our best player at this level, but he's not even close.

                        Hopefully at Southport Sharks: which is really just a stroll for me.

                          Isn't Rose the most frustrating player! He does so much that is good, has developed in defensive skills and stays in the game more, he kicks very accurately when looking for a target but then at other times he puts boot to ball without looking or seemingly thinking and sprays it all over the place, of course he is not the only one who does that but he is not going to push any one out of the seniors if he can't fix that up.

                            Yes, generally agree. Though I thought that Marsh was probably BOG in the first half, O'Riordan BOG in the second, but Cameron was BOG overall. And yes, Rose may be doing enough to save his career, with his seven tackles probably mostpleasing for the coaches.
                            I'm also always pleased with at least some of the toppies. Stewart was really good. The gut running of Wicks was excellent. I suspect that both may have done enough to be rookie listed. While both Reinhard and Stern did some clever things.
                            It will be interesting to see if Hamish Ellem develops. If I remember rightly, he's only sixteen, so for that age, he is a big lump of a lad. Luckily, he also seems to have some pace and skills.

                              Some of the toppies, particularly the ones you've mentioned, do some nice things in most games and sometimes have a standout performance, but I'm not sure if any are quite good enough to be drafted.

                              I think our 2 academy draftees from last year, Brown and Bell, are about the minimum level for drafting and I don't know if any of the new ones are quite up to that level. Maybe we'll take a chance on one of them if a list spot is available.

                                Yes, they may be borderline, but looking at the current rookies, I would have little hesitation, in swapping out Pink and Styles, for Wicks and Stewart.
