    AJ in is great news.

Instead of us trudging to the SCG expecting to see another loss to those awful Pies, we'll have a spring in our step and some optimism for the night ahead. Yay!

Theres a strong chance of seeing at least one grown man in tears this Saturday. Got emotional just reading the article.

Hard to say if its a farewell game or a legitimate look at his form before making an end of season call but either way thrilled to see him back on the field.

Hope he starts on the bench and gets the ovation after he comes onto the ground.
He ate more cheese, than time allowed

His form has been building nicely in reserves over the last 6 weeks or so. I doubt its a farewell game but maybe as much a marker point game - to see just how he stands in terms of the first 22 going into next season. Unless it is absolutely disastrous and he is that far off the pace its not funny (seems unlikely given how careful we've been with him), I would of thought its more likely than not he will still be on the list in some form next season (for those that know the rookie list rules far better than me - can we keep him on there as a rookie for next year as well?)

But the question I’ve got is who does he replace? Jones has been rubbed out, but it’s unlikely AJ is coming in for him.

The most likely option is Grundy.

Or, maybe Horse will spring another surprise and put Allir as a marking forward to replace the tired McCartin.

Or perhaps Allir is injured himself. Didn’t he come off last week for a bit to get his legs checked

          Thoughts?
Don’t Collingwood play Cox and a lot of “mediums”? I wonder who’ll take Cox. Whether Reg is up to it and stays in or they give it to Aliir?

I don’t Aliir goes forward, but I can see AJ replacing Reg.

I would love this also - the roar would be massive.

Regardless, this is great and I'm sure there will be a huge cheer for his name on Saturday and another for his first touch.

AJ deserves his elevation. he has played really well since he came back from injury. He is a general in the backline and we need that at the moment. Reg was not right last week and that made his game suffer and his normal generalling went by the by. Ramps is not great at running the backline and let's face it he's having enough trouble just beating his opponent.

sorry but the only one who stacks up is Macca. Kizza's form was woeful before the injury and the young guys were carrying him. The same for Hannas. he was dreadful and it is not his hammy that is the major problem it is his groin. Hannas is not ready and probably nor is Macca. i don't want to see a situation like we saw in the Cats game again thanks. Hannas couldn't even run, hadn't been able to chase since his return, Macca injured and Kizza crap until injured. No thanks.

I'd rather bring in AJ, Towers, Foote, Cameron or Robbo because they are fit. Stop blaming the young players for the coach's inability to change the game plan or select the right balance in the team selection. Injury may hit but if you have the depth you survive it. But if you have a predictable, stupid game plan you will get opened up every time.

I don't know if you watch the reserves but he has been pretty good. This is not a charity game it is well deserved.

Longmire's comments in the press conference make it clear it's an earned game.

If they were going to gift him a farewell game, it wouldn't be in round 20 with finals still on the cards.

AJ will be getting downfield in the line of sight of the opposition kicker and filling the holes in our zone defence. So basically, he's taking the place of Jeremy Laidler.

The club have said that there in no psychological team reason for bringing him in.

Even though it is clearly there.

Should have been in for the Suns game.
Likely was considered last week, but the club wanted an SCG return.

Even the comments here reflect how the fans will support him and the team against the Wobbles.
                            Hope it's not wasted...

I don't think it could ever be wasted. What AJ has overcome is enormous and in the scheme of things is more than a game of football.

Man this is huge ! What an absolutely amazing guy Alex must be to persevere through everything. Can’t wait to watch the game just for this reason! ( wasn’t super keen on watching it beforehand just quietly )
