So happy for AJ. I'll always remember his enthusiasm in the 2012 GF parade when his car stopped right in front of me. It made my day after standing for hours in the pouring rain!

There has been a lot of talk down here this week about the lack of frees to Mason Cox. I'm concerned they are going to make up for it this week ????.

For the first time in a long while, I'm going into a game that I'll be at thinking I don't really care so much for what the result is at the end of the day.

If anything is going to provide the electric shock to our season to find a faint pulse, it'll be the return of AJ. If not, then I'll still be able to fondly remember being there to mark his return. Even if he wasn't to play another game, we get belted (A real possibility), I won't regret it.

I was not planning to come up the highway for this one, such has been my disappointment in our past few weeks. But with AJ coming back, that was quickly forgotten. I've chatted with him on a couple of occasions since 2012 (once outside the G on that dastard day in September 2016) and always admired how positive he has remained through something that psychologically must have been so challenging for him. A very good guy, and the least I can do is make the trip up the highway to cheer him on on his return. The roar here at the NEAFL game last year on his return when he kicked a goal was huge - I can't wait to imagine what a jam packed SCG will be like when he touches the ball the first time on Saturday night.

We are a proud club that sticks together through thick and thin -> I'd like to hope the boys will be well up for it on Saturday night, like we have been at some other tumultuous times - such as the famous wins down at the Cattery.... But the result at the end of the day is secondary imho.

But the question I’ve got is who does he replace? Jones has been rubbed out, but it’s unlikely AJ is coming in for him.

The most likely option is Grundy.

Or, maybe Horse will spring another surprise and put Allir as a marking forward to replace the tired McCartin.

Or perhaps Allir is injured himself. Didn’t he come off last week for a bit to get his legs checked

        Thoughts?
Can't see Grundy being dropped. He's the only player we have that's capable of playing on Cox.

I also was debating whether I would bother watching, given the recent rubbish we have dished up. But with AJ now in, it's a definite! For the record and those who can't remember, he was a serious good player who was almost unbeatable on a one on one challenge.

I do get the vibe that his inclusion is based on form, and I’m generally not too cynical with the clubs pr but realistically Longmire was never going to say that it was a charity case and one for the road.

His ressies form has been solid but not spectacular from what I’ve seen.

Really hope he maintains his spot and stays injury free but as CTS said the uplift to the club is definitely there through his inclusion.

I think AJ could easily take Rampes role on a taller forward and allow Ramps to move up the field

I just hope he can get a few touches on Saturday night, get through the game and hopefully contribute to a good effort from the boys. Anything else would be a bonus!

If his return is successful I think this would absolutely be the longer term plan. I hope it happens!

I wonder what AJs return will do for crowd numbers? There will be heaps of Scumwood supporters there given their form. This has to be close to a sell out for sure.

I'm so excited for this game now. I wasn't too thrilled about attending earlier in the week - and even contemplated not going (Pies supporters are the WORST), but AJ was my fave player in 2012 (former backwoman myself) and I've been hoping, praying and crossing my fingers that he'd make a return to the AFL at some stage. My only real hopes for his game on Saturday are that he comes through uninjured and that he gets a few touches. I'll probably miss the first five minutes anyway as I'm sure I'll be a blubbering mess.

I VIVIDLY remember his after-game celebrations after he'd had a few celbratory beverages. He was one very over-excited boy

Surely all supporters will welcome the return of Aex .

                            Back on topic!

                            Known changes:

                            OUT: Jones
                            IN: Johnson

                            Rumsfeldian possibilities:

IN: Macca OUT: O'Riordan (quite likely)
IN: Jack OUT: Fox (I hope not)
IN: Hannebery OUT: Newman (surely not)
IN: Towers OUT: Dawson (I'd like to see Dawson given more of a run)

I hope its Macca in and perhaps Towers. not convinced by Hanners or Jack. Hard to know who the other outs will be - I hope its not Dawson as he deserves more of a run - preferably with some time truly in the midfield to see how he goes.

                                Now I'm uber-nervous.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
