Yes, it's possible Ben cost himself a Coleman this year. By having such a long run up he shortened Kangaroos games to the point
where there were less opportunities for forward 50 entries that he might be able to mark and goal from.

If a Swans player had infringed it would have been a 50m penalty. It was a technically correct call

I missed what the call was actually for. Was it not kicking over the mark? What is the rule anyway?

I don't follow this comment. A person standing alongside or in front of the man on the mark isn't in a legitimate position. Multiple players standing behind the mark are in legitimate positions.

And I confess this isn't a ploy I've observed the Swans using, in the backline or elsewhere.

You will notice that opposition players usually stand just behind the mark, then step across the player on the mark once the kicker has been called to play on.

We don't do it often, Reg has done it a few times this year to give Rampe an extra few metres to clear the ball from after a kick to the back pocket.

Numerous times on Saturday the dawkers left it to well over 35 seconds to start the run up.
When I get around to watching the game again, I'll point out when they did it.
