As long as you have a huge proportion of the ground filled with MCC and AFL members it doesn't matter what else you do, the crowd and atmosphere will almost certainly favour Victorian teams on the day. I certainly don't favour a best of three series, even the US doesn't do that for their football code. Nothing is going to change considering the length of the deal but the ideal thing to do would be for the game to rotate around different cities depending on who bids for it in certain years, such as is done with the Superbowl and the UEFA Champions League finals. It's a Grand Final so it will fill no matter where it's held.

Whilst we won it in 2012, pretty sure Hawks won free count handilyComment

Over a long period, free kicks should even out.
Fact. The Vic teams have the home crowd advantage in grand finals.
Fact. Crowds influence umpires. Perth, Adelaide, anywhere.
Fact. It's very unlikely that 5 games in a row would have the same lopsided free kick counts.Comment

Wow, that's as bad as 2016....we so deserved to win!

That’s a bit of a stretch. FACT: 40% of your 5 games in a row had a free kick differential of one free kick or less between the two teams.

NRL always get the entertainment right....as for the match, wrong team won.[/QUOTE]
Yeah, it's interesting. Somewhere in the NRL HQ there is always someone who knows their music.
The AFL (with the exception of The Killers at the 2017 GF) haven't got a clue.
Oh, and the right team won. I wish the Swans could put together a first half as good as the
Roosters did last night.Comment

Ok, all grand finals involving one Vic and one non Vic team.
Only 3 (1991, 1996, and 2002) has a non Vic team come out marginally in front of the free kick count. Out of 17 such grand finals .
Just 17% , and none for the past 16 years. Damning.Comment

Heard an idea voiced on TV (can't remember who by) that the MCG should be configured to the dimensions of the higher finishing team in the GF.
So that would mean if Geelong finished 2 and the Vic team finished 3 the MCG on GF day should be configured to the same dimensions as GMHBA statium.
Not a bad idea.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment
