And an absolutely delightful gentleman. Great speaker too

Pleased to hear it. He was always a favourite of mine.

Hopefully he will come to more functions. He had a nice signed photo auctioned off on the night as a fundraiser for the supporter group. Fair chance they might get him to sign another one if you want to put a bid in? Or buy a raffle ticket if it’s a raffle

Memory is fading ... but did John Roberts play his first game under the name 'Greg Swan' at Kadinia Park?
Playing under an alias as the contract wasn't yet signed??
Was it John Roberts or someone else??
I vaguely recall being at Kadinia Park and a Greg Swan running on the field.

It was John in his first practice match, he played under an alias as he couldn’t get a clearance yet from the Peckers.

His first H&A game was at the Cattery when he kicked the winning goal after the siren with Cats supporters invading the ground and police horses near him as he kicked.

He told this story at the SA Supporter Group Christmas dinner last year

Much obliged, memory prevails for the moment.
                Thanks again,

I was walking down the street this morning and was heading towards this really tall guy with tattoos and funny hair. I thought to myself he looks familiar. Then realised it was Naismith!

Watching a Melbourne coaching staff being interviewed pre-game on Fox Footy last night. Had no idea it was former Swan/Richmond ruckman Greg Stafford till when they thanked him at the conclusion. Barely recognisable with grey beard & few extra kilos!

I noticed Cappeeeeeeeer punching the air when we scored our first goal last Friday.

Yes, saw him sandwiched between Swan supporters. Bit disappointed he didn’t wear any red and white though!

Interesting piece in here on Nic Newman, and some reflections on what he did - or didn’t - get right during his time with us. Fascinating, as he could always play. But . . .

The turning point that steered Carlton Blue Nic Newman on a path to the top

Good read. Thanks uninformed. A case where it takes a player to find himself facing the abyss before finally realising he has to really pull his finger out. Credit for being honest with himself and doing so.

Thought he relied too much on his laser like kicking skill with us and not take his game to the next level, as he's now shown.

Dylan Stevens may well end up doing the same at North, as he does have some similarities with Newman despite deciding not to re-sign with us.
