As the panel mentioned, Teaser the was the founder of the modern ruckman today. Brings back great memories at the height of his career, which i know he made big impressions for some of us old South fans on this board.

Yes, I did enjoy that. Although the late hits and cheap shots from that era do make me cringe.

It was just a privilege to watch him during his Brownlow year. He was brilliant all that year and had many, many highlights but, for me, the standout was when he decimated Collingwood at Victoria Park!

That game still etched in my memory. He's in good nick for his age.

Teaser was one of the most gifted players to ever pull on boots. Think a combo of Adam Goodes and Warwick Capper in terms of what he could do .... which was anything. So sad that knee injuries cut him short, even if he was playing for the Pies at that point.

I can never forgive that cretin Sheedy for using Teaser as his one example of what is broken about the Brownlow Medal - his theory being that there were a number of all-time greats who never won one, while Teaser did. I would say that rarely has there EVER been a MORE deserving winner of the medal than Teaser. His '77 season was one of the most dominant, brilliant displays of footy there's ever been. Despite apparently being a genius, Kevin (the single greatest devotee of the "Sheedy's a genius" cult yet identified) somehow failed to understand the extraordinarily simple proposition that it's a medal for a SEASON, not a lifetime achievement award.

And just in case you suspect from my name and pic that I'm biased on the subject ..... I'm not. Facts are facts.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form

              You're absolutely spot on!

The Brownlow Medal is for the fairest and best in a particular season. Teaser was light years ahead of anyone else in his Brownlow year.

I've always suspected that there was an underlying reason behind Sheedy's put down of Teaser. Sheedy was at Richmond when we gave them John Pitura and they gave us Teaser, Whale Roberts and Francis Jackson. Teaser won a Brownlow, Roberts nearly won one and Jackson played 100 fantastic game for us. Sour grapes from Sheedy? His comments towards Teaser reeked of jealousy and were childish and particularly distasteful

And YOU'RE absolutely spot on too.

I started writing another paragraph to exactly this effect and then decided to just post and be done with it. But I 100% believe that this is what's behind it.

Don't know what Teaser is doing these days but i remember him being interviewed by Kevin Bartlett some years ago on SEN back in the day.

Recalled that he lived in a regional town (possibly NSW) but didn't take notice of what he was doing, if it was brought up. But what stood out was Teaser saying he didn't follow AFL much & was more into NRL!

He played most of a season with North Shore, he was my idol in 1977, and it broke my heart when he went to Collingwood.
One of the most surreal experiences of my life was rocking up to preseason at Gore Hill and thinking - gosh that guy who doesn't have to do the time trial looks like Teaser.

I know Teaser hailed from Charlton in Central Victoria.

Happy to be told I'm mistaken but I believe that, for some time, Teaser drove a horse transport carrier. Even if I'm right, it was many, many years ago and probably isn't what he's doing now.

The only Brownliw medalist NOT to make his club's Team Of The Century?

This is exactly what I thought....Sheedy is just pissed off that the Tigers lost that deal by a huge margin.....and it goes a long way to back up what my late father used to say about him....."he's a nasty piece of work that Sheedy".

We had too many to fit in!

I was watching I'm a Celebrity the other day, (don't hate me), and Peter Daicos mentioned how he always signed autographs or took photos with fans. He said he has brought up his sons to also be respectful of fans.

He recalled how he was at a Hall of fame function and Adam Goodes was in attendance. His sons loved Goodes so he took a football and approached Goodes asking him to sign the football for his sons. Goodes of course said yes and asked how many sons he had. When Daicos said 2, Goodes grabbed another football and signed one each for Josh and Nick.

What a great story and it shows what type of person Goodes is. It really is a shame that he isn't involved with football anymore because of the disgusting way he was treated.
