His sons loved Goodes so he took a football and approached Goodes asking him to sign the football for his sons. Goodes of course said yes and asked how many sons he had. When Daicos said 2, Goodes grabbed another football and signed one each for Josh and Nick.

What a great story and it shows what type of person Goodes is. It really is a shame that he isn't involved with football anymore because of the disgusting way he was treated.
He also signed a mini footy for one of my (then) young daughters holding it out to him at a Melbourne fans event ...... but it sits in a prominent place in my home office now (sorry girls).

It's a tragedy he's lost to the game but that's the game's (and, more specifically, Gillon McLaughlin's and Mike Fitzpatrick's) fault. They - and the game - failed him appallingly. In a strange way, I hope he never comes back. These arseholes don't deserve the redemption that might come to them from his return, and the continued absence of an all time great continues to shine light on an important issue.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form

Kieran Jack moving to WA and working with West Coast.

Great role model for Harley Reid.

Just a shout out that i'm really enjoying reading the weekly Hall Of Fame biographies of our past legends on the club's website.

Worth a look, as i find it great to refresh my memories on these greats & learn a few new things about them that i didn't know previously.

I notice that Dyl has been dropped by the Roos. Not even an emergency.

Also Will Phillips, who North took at pick 3 (before Logan).

Here's one for the "more mature" RWOers. My stepson has gone over to WA for our game against Freo and went to a member function there. He ended up sitting next to and chatting with Eric Sarich who played 62 games for us in the mid to late 1960s. Eric is now in his 80s but obviously still attached to the Bloods!

Eric was a great defender. I remember him shutting down the wunderkind Jesaulenko in a draw against Carlton who were riding high at the time. He was the ultimate stopper.

Number 16. Hard as nails but wasn't a great kick. Brother of inventor Ralph Sarich.

Really worked on his kicking and improved markedly over his time at South.

Happy to back your memory on that one. What i know for sure is that Tom's grandfather Max Papley, who played during the same era, was a magnificent kick.

That's brilliant, Eric was quite the local identity in Perth in my youth, in both media and commerce (as well as the connection to Ralph as also mentioned) - didn't realise there was a Swans connection.

Always happy to see Matthew Nicks doing well in the AFL world and now an esteemed coach.

Before Taylor Swift made songs bagging Ex-Boyfriends a cultural phenomenon, Tammin Sursok released this song not long after her relationship with Matthew Nicks ended.

Great to see that Nicks has recovered from this situation and forged ahead with a great career in the AFL.

Another poor recruiting error by North.
