Past players - what are they up to?

Nice sentimentality but the fact was that he wasn't performing for us. He'd have a great patch of a couple of games, then three games in a row where he'd get only several touches. I saw him live against Richmond on Friday and he just doesn't get involved in the game. He always seemed to be in the wrong position when the ball came into the forward line. He would only be keeping a younger player out of our team this year.Comment

How do people here see Nick Newman's first season at Carlton? I watched their win against Brisbane and he was handy. Still he struggled to cement a spot down back at the Swans in recent seasons. My feeling is that he will be a handy player for them going forward but never a star.

I glanced at the TV in a cafe this morning to see "Ted Richards from Six Park" dispensing financial advice on mid-season sales bargains, on one of the morning shows (Today, I think).
I know that's what he does now and it was always his chosen post-footy career, but it's still odd for me seeing him in that role!

According to the tracker, Menzel is quick. Against Geelong, he had the second fastest top speed, behind Ratogalea. While against West Coast, he was equal fastest on the field with Rampe. Which I found surprising, as he never really seems to be express. And as an aside, Rohan wasn't in the top five in the Geelong game.Comment

Though it could be the other way round. Like when Jetta and Rohan were both Swans, most people (including me) would have assumed, that one of them was the fastest at the club. But I remember reading that it was actually Goodes. This was because he had rapid acceleration, and hit a peak around 10-15 metres. However, being a bigger bodied athlete, he couldn't sustain it. So, beyond 20 metres, Rohan and Jetta were both quicker, but there was that brief peak, that meant Goodesy had the highest maximum speed.
So, maybe Menzel just has a brief sweet spot, that he can't keep up?Comment
