Speaking of passing up players, I thought it was a bit odd, that Brisbane didn't match bids on a couple of their academy players (and Chris Johnson's son). Since they suffered badly from the go home factor for a while, you'd think they would be keen to sign locals. And the academy player that I recall seeing in the NEAFL, Noah Cumberland, does seem promising.

On my phone, it's just a matter of placing my finger on the address bar and then holding it there for a second or so, until a message pops up saying URL Copied. Then when posting, I hold my finger where I want to paste the link. A message saying Paste then pops up. Pressing the Paste sign will post the link. Chances are your phone will have much the same system. Give it a try. There was an article in the Fairfax papers on 20 November about Taylor. He has connections on both sides of his family to a multitude of WA footballing families, including the Franklins.
I can’t post a link because I’m still consigned to my phone and don’t know how to do it (on my phone). Maybe someone else can hunt down the article and post a link.Comment

They didn’t have the option of matching the Johnson selection because they only nominated him as a potential rookie. Had he made it through the ND they could have automatically added him to their rookie list. But he has to make it through the ND first.Speaking of passing up players, I thought it was a bit odd, that Brisbane didn't match bids on a couple of their academy players (and Chris Johnson's son). I was surprised they didn’t match the Cumberland bid. I suspect they were thrown a bit by the bid on Coleman coming quite early in the draft.Comment

Barry, this is for you. I think you’ll approve:
Who smashed it? Our say on your club's draft performance - AFL.com.au
What the club says: "I know some people are asking why we didn't bid for Tom Green (at pick No.5) … to a degree, we feel that at that selection we're obliged to take a player that we want. That's what we did. It's up to other people to make their assessments on whether Tom Green should have gone at five, but in our case we didn't think so. We had Dylan Stephens rated before him. It's as simple as that." – Sydney list manager Kinnear BeatsonComment

On face value a successful and maybe significant draft for us. I'm rapt in how it's turned out, added players with real talent and character which mustn't be underestimated.
We have added really well to what was already a talented young list and we know what may come our way in 2020 recruit wise.
Congratulations to the list management/recruitment team, some clever pick trading and three recruits with top ten talent. Couldn't have asked for more - I'm excited!Comment

Great article. He sounds very interesting. With our Indigenous Program he should flourish. He is also a buddy fan lol

Bull@@@@. Different style of player. Stoddart was not ragdolled anyway. He just stuffed up his enthusiasm. He was too overenthusiastic. He was never just thrown out of the way except by KPP. He held his own against opponents. You overexagerate.

Maybe fear isn't the right word and the Swans would never say that it is, but it does look a bit like policy doesn't it. It was going to happen anyway when the Academy starts to pump through more local AFL players, but that time isnt now.
Warner does look a bit of a throwback to many years ago when we did draft a lot of short slow moving midfielders who couldnt kick over a jam tin. But lets wait and see.Comment

Can someone make sure Trev gets a good nap in?
The fact anyone here assumes to know more than KB & Co is laughable. From the highlights reel, the kids we got look great.
Taylor could by anything, and I by the late 30s, it's speculative at best anyway, so good call taking a punt.
Warner looks like he has brilliant vision in close and incredible desperation. You can't teach either.Comment

There has already been talk the green will be the best player from this draft from the Victorian media, but 10 clubs had a chance to pick him and didn't.and Carlton only did so they could buy some time forapick swap**.Barry, this is for you. I think you’ll approve:

I see this as typical Vic media inflating the 'ferrari' tyres so the AFL can clip their wings with more punative penalties in the future.
* -. Silvagni would have to be the most overrated list manager ever.
Green at 10 is fair value. Stephen s at 5 is fair value.Comment

What's very interesting about this draft is the number of team who have traded out of 2020.
This is good for us, as we have a few academy prospects, and we may be able to do what GWS did this year and turn 1 first round into 2, by trading into 2020 draft while everyone is trading out.Comment
