Saints are screwed with no currency and a contracted Brad Hill to chase.
With a reported 900k for Hill that will be a 1st Round and Acres if not 2x 1st Rounders

Id play hard ball with Jones, hoping of course we sign him and threatening the Gold Coast option in the PSD

Papley I wont even entertain, makes me sick thinking about it.

In fact swapping either for Clayton Oliver and later picks is the only thing id look at

      I propose Pick 23, 40 & Cameron to GWS for Pick 13 and a future 2nd Round.
Get us another top pick and helps us next year for points, helps GWS for points this year

I've read a few pages of posts from other clubs' fan sites regarding Jones. He's much more highly rated outside RWO than on here. Consensus is that he's worth a mid first rounder.

The journos have to keep providing stories for the 10 clubs not in finals. Other than rumours, there really hasn't been anything of substance about Papley and Jones. The rumours of Longmire going to NM were stronger than Paps or Jones leaving.

I've been hot and cold on Mason Wood over the years. He can be electrifying at times, but inconsistency and injury have stalled his career.

plenty of talent left if jones and papley leave?????
          Correct.

Hayward replacing Papley for a start.

We still need to get something good back though.

All I’ve read about Papley is that Carlton really want him. Not that he wants to go.

So part of me hopes it’s like Darcy Moore last year; a media story with no basis in fact.

Another part of me thinks Darren Jolly. Roos did t stand in his way when he had a genuine reason to return to Melbourne.

The Swans have been pretty good at retaining “required” players other than Mitchell and that came down to $ I think.

I really hope we keep both of them

Who is better, Wood or T McCartin?

As I said in an earlier post, I'm ambivalent about the Jones and Papley trade sagas. If they want out to go home to Melbourne then all well and good as long as we get a good deal.
The whole Mitchell situation and to a lesser extent Membrey and Nankervis, just stank to high heaven. We got so done over.
If the club brokers similar deals or worse, I think we as supporters need to revolt. Maybe a peaceful sit in at HQ until whoever is responsible resigns.

McCartin is definitely off to a better start, but has a long way to go. Wood has 7 years in the books already, without making a mark other than having a number of impressive games, but needs to put a solid couple of years together.

Thurlow had a similar history and I was feeling fairly confident that he would have a breakthrough this year, but it hasn't materialized. It's hard to say how these things play out.

Wood doesn't fit a need and would end up dead wood in the NEAFL.

Don't need list cloggers, I'm suspecting that Thurlow and Clarke are shaping that way.

Any trade outs we do need to give us value. Gold Coast pick 17 for Jones who would get a big contract up there I'd do. Papley to Carlton for their Crows pick 8. Gives us a very strong draft hand and we could swap those three picks in the 50s to a club bereft of picks like Saints for 2020 pick/s.

So, assuming that he's had high quality medical care at Fremantle, and his calves have not come good; what are the rough chances of a successful rehab, if we take a punt on him?

Players I want traded out of Swans: Jones (too many turnovers), Florent (just not good enough), Hayward (not good enough), Ryan Clarke (meh), Thurlow (meh), Naismith ( too injury prone)

Any player can be traded at the right price - I'm assuming this is what you are saying in a roundabout way.
However, to get rid of Jones or Florent would require a sweet deal, either good swap or first rounder. Hayward 2nd rounder. Others not much. Having said that, I disagree with the implication that Jones, Florent and Hayward are substandard. In particular, Florent was looking on the cusp of becoming a top line player. Jones already there and Hayward in form, not far off too.

Give me a break, 2 games in 4 Years.
What a joke, will never be anything again if he ever was

About 2% Chance he returns to be a 18+ games per season player

I saw him play cracking games for Gold Coast, is a Rolls Royce when fit and that's the big question. Apparently had the calf issue belatedly identified and has had corrective surgery.

Will only cost a bit of salary cap, comes for free so worth a punt.

The story is that he’s got to the bottom of his calf problem since being delisted by Freo! You’d hope the Swans would only take him if they think he’ll play. Has huge potential for a free player if that’s true.
