Jack Martin has requested a trade away from Gold Coast

Hmmmmm probably has the skills we need to add to the team

I think our club could get the best out of Jack

He and buddy together upfront with paps and Heeney rotating thru would be a fascinating see evolve

    186cm
    83kg
    24yrs of age

Would be a great addition to our current blend of players and ages and experience

So no love for Carlisle? Agree the Saints would be pretty desperate, they looked terrible in parts on Saturday, dare I say, at the level of the Suns on a bad day.
I do definitely get the impression that it's a tight market for even above average talent so let's extract a healthy pound of flesh if Jones and / or Papley want out.

Yes I thought that a number of times on Saturday as they fumbled their way around the ground. How did this lot win more games than
us? I guess maybe they were just being good blokes and didn't want to rain on the Swans retiree festivities, or had already mentally checked in
at the lounge at Melbourne airport for the end-of-season trip. But they didn't look good.

I would steer clear of Carlisle. Seems pretty ridiculous for St Kilda to trade a 27 yo KPP, who's coming off an injury interrupted year, when his trade currency is at its lowest. St Kilda need good key defenders as well.

Sounds like they want to off load him. Apparently he had a trigger clause for an extension on his contract that he wanted to take up but they refused.

Not going to be popular, but. If GC get a priority pick which is meant to traded for experienced talent. We off load Lloyd to them for that pick and we then use the pick to trade in someone who will win contested ball and not be a soft wide receiver with average disposal.

                Ouch
                Re lloyd

Lloyd and Dawson are going to get an awesome combo happening next year as it builds from the back end of 2019

I’m loving our capacity to exit with two serious get out of trouble players in the backline now.......but if one of our key exits players is injured you have to have another available

I don’t want lloyd to leave our team because it will hurt us big time Re getting out of our defensive arc

It also shuts the door for senior football for a lot of players competing for the main key defender role: Melican, McCartin, Pink, Maibaum. What happens to them?

Anyway, I don't think a swap would be on offer. Perhaps Blake Acres for Jones wouldn't be bad, but I think Acres may be part of a Brad Hill deal, considering Acres is from Perth, but that's just conjecture as I don't recall anything about Acres wanting to 'go home'.

I can understand that clubs would be interested in both Jones and Papley, but I don't see what the big draw would be for them to want to leave the Swans, nor why the Swans should capitulate and let either go easily.
Carlisle has form with his attitude, summed up by his lack of effort as Buddy strolled in for his fourth goal. Avoid him like the plague.

Personally I'll very sad if we lose Paps or Jones. Papley could be, and is becoming, one of the competition's great small forwards and we have no-one to replace him. Jones provides much of our drive out of defence and takes the game on (sure it doesn't always work out) in a way no other Swan does.

And if, as many here seem to want, we lose Lloyd I bet this time next year we'll be lamenting how our 2020 defence inexplicably leaked goals and so denied us a finals spot.

Here are some trade rumours: Edmund provides massive trade updates on Kelly, Acres, Hill, Jones, Wood and Papley.

If Tom Papley wants to go, and Carlton are willing to give up Adelaide's first rounder, I would take it. Hope that is not the case and that he stays; I love Pap's passion and electricity and leadership. One thing that I am reminded of by swansfan51 is that small forwards are cheap and a top 10 pick is probably overs.

If a player wants to go it's hard to hold on to them. If we wait another year his trade value will be less. Better we move on with someone who wants to be part of the future.

It is a worry though if we keep losing our experienced players while we're already so young. Reminds me of GWS. Not that it's a pattern yet but don't want it to become one.

A lot of the criticism of Jones is the same as that directed at Stewart Maxfield, who he very closely resembles in paying style, and for the same reason.

I just noticed someone edited Mason Wood's Wikipedia page yesterday to say he now plays for the Swans.

Same person also edited Papa's page at the same time to say he plays for North Melbourne.

Pap's page has been corrected back to the Swans but not Mason's. Perhaps a sign of things to come. lol

I'll assume that Gold Coast get a priority pick at the end of the first round (pick 19).

If St Kilda want Jones, they're going to baulk at giving up pick 5, but they have no other picks in the first three rounds. Carlton and Papley - their first picks are pick 8 and two third-round picks. I don't see either club giving up their first-round picks, but they have no second-round picks to offer.

I've also heard rumours about Papley being linked to North Melbourne. North have their first three picks and haven't swapped in any.

If the Swans get players or picks in exchange for Papley or Jones, don't expect it to be a straight swap. It won't be. We may end up with a complicated trade where we get one first round pick for both players, plus some later pick swaps moving us up in the draft.
