I posed the Bennell question weeks ago on this thread after the article re: successfully discovering the cause of and the subsequent correction of his calf issue, was published. Interesting the Swans may feel the same. He's worth a punt I reckon.....Comment

+1Personally I'll very sad if we lose Paps or Jones. Papley could be, and is becoming, one of the competition's great small forwards and we have no-one to replace him. Jones provides much of our drive out of defence and takes the game on (sure it doesn't always work out) in a way no other Swan does.
And if, as many here seem to want, we lose Lloyd I bet this time next year we'll be lamenting how our 2020 defence inexplicably leaked goals and so denied us a finals spot.

Apparently Martin wants to be traded to "a Victorian club". They always get the 'home' boys from up north.

A girlfriend wanting to go home is not a genuine reason in my book.....if they were married maybe.
Imagine if he went home to Victoria with his girlfriend and they broke up half way through next season.....

Surprise surprise an agent and a performing Surgeon have informed the world their delisted client has found a cure to the injury that has destroyed his playing career
What are people expecting ?

Apparently the latest surgeon is a 'calf guru' Peter Stanton, who Bennell had never consulted before.....who identified a nerve issue which hadn't been discovered earlier.
Bennell finds new calf guru, successful surgery identifies nerve issue - AFL.com.au
"Stanton held leading roles at AFL clubs Brisbane and Geelong, was at the Australian Institute of Sport for a decade, attended three Olympic Games, and is considered a calf guru.
Bennell's surgery last week identified a nerve issue and involved removing muscle that was scarred and causing problems.
The operation was deemed a success."Last edited by stevoswan; 27 August 2019, 06:45 PM.Comment

Bennell I’d be happy to take a punt on. Comes for nothing , would be on a low contract , and even if there’s only a very slight chance ( which is likely the case ) he can return to the sort of football he displayed at the GC then why wouldn’t we ? I like it , our clubs been too conservative with these kinds of things in recent seasons , the tigers have the balls to take a punt, and it’s working well for them recently .

RWO is 50/50 on Menzel.....the club may not be.....and if Bennell's comeback is successful, I suspect he will be enjoying life and the 'baggage' may be a thing of the past. His troubles always seemed to coincide with rehab set backs.Comment

If the swans are interested in Harley I hope they do a better medical assessment than what they did with Menzel. He lasted one training session and then he had to have surgery.Comment
