General footy chat #AFL Round 3 Weekly Discussion Thread

Cats going well again.....I like the way they play, I wish we would play that way. While Gary Rohan has only 3 possessions at half time, he keeps bobbing up with pressure acts or competing in the air and bringing the ball to ground......looks very at home in that team and he'll get away with low possessions while they're winning at least.

Adelaide look fairly average.....how does that make us look? I hope we improve....a lot!

Some very interesting games this weekend and a GF replay.....

    Have a good one....

Adelaide are very average. We are more average t g an Adelaide I think. Sad. But sometimes you have to have a bad season for the club to realise it needs to change.

Bruce becomming more excited as the Crows get closer. He was very subdued when Geelong dominated early on.

6 possessions, 2 tackles. Lucky he kicked the two goals.

As I said before, it's the pressure acts as well, one which lead to a Cats goal in the last quarter when they needed one and yes, I will say it....an X factor....of bobbing up when needed, as he did in the last quarter tonight.

I reckon the Cats would be loving him at the moment. His challenge now....is to keep it up and not go quiet. While they're winning, he's safe as....

Always good to see the Crows get beaten, keeps the natives here quiet :-)

I was surprised by the stats just because at least on TV he looked more involved, in the sense of often being close to the action.

Seems to be playing a similar role as for us but more consistently visible, 3 games in at least. Will be interesting to see how his season progresses.

I am so disappointed that we traded him. What a terrific player, crushed by the meatgrinder that is the Longmire gameplan.

Its certainly a different perspective seeing him at another team. But his output ( the commentator said 6 possessions for 2 goals, sometime in the last quarter I think) is pretty much on par with his Swans performances in the 2015-2017 period.
I do find myself barracking for him when the ball enters the geelong forward line. I wish him all the best.

The ball does enter the forward 50 more often at geelong than it did at Sydney.

It felt like everyone on RWO had reached the end of their tether with Gazza last year. Different vibe on here now!

Last week Swans had 55 i50s. Last night Geelong 49. I think they deliver it better than we do though.

it is so clear watching him that the stats don't tell the story of his game. There were a number of times last night when he ran 50 or 70 metres at pace and closed down an option without necessarily laying a tackle or making a smother, so he doesn't even get a 1%er stat. And he seemed to have licence to move up the ground—he was sometime all the way up at HBF, and then would run past the pack to set up in a forward pocket. He just looked 'on', running on top of the grass, and looking like he was having a great time.

And for the record, I was not on the dump Gaz bandwagon last year. Love him.

I was on Gary up to about round 20 or so last year.....then I got sick of waiting. So did the club.....I thought they were right and no one including the club, has a crystal ball.

It was always on the cards he was going to go well at a new environment.....one that has a game plan that suits him. As such, he was probably never going to deliver to his potential at the Swans.
