Matchups
Form
Flexibility of game plan
Carrying injuries
Etc etc
So many factors that are taken into account for selection
The list goes on .......but for Justin McInerney to get the nod from his snr playing group is massive
They could have gone with a more experienced solution but have opted for the calm and confident young rookie to play some wing HBF
No27
Time to play ur role Justin

Jack no surprise, lets hope he's in better form that 2018.
McInerney a surprise but the little I've seen of him on telly he looks a real talent.
COR I thought might get a call up, Rose might have had his papers stamped but if so why did we keep him on?Comment

Jack has been ordinary for some time now...And his accuracy in front of goal is often found wanting....He'll be busy when the ball is in his area but that's about it..
I'd much prefer Rose in the side....He's been performing well in the 2's, particularly late last year ...A standout last week and in last years GF...It's time.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

We have a young team, McVeigh is out, Jack's certainly waning, but his leadership and toughness are assets we're lacking a bit. I want Rose to do well, but he hasn't in any game bar his first. I think Jack is the safer bet and we need to win.Comment

Hallelujah! This might just be the miracle I’ve been hoping for. I actually wonder whether John Longmire has been struck by lightning?
Change may finally be afoot!

Luke Parker says the side’s focus has been more on being less predictable.
“We’re focusing on improving our ball movement but becoming more unpredictable and not just so predictable going long down the line, because I don’t think that works anymore.”Comment

Excellent Andrew Wu piece on McInerney: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/...10-p51ctu.html.
Some quotes from the Northern Knights talent manager, Rhy Gieschen:
"He has some AFL-like attributes. He runs well, kicks well, takes the game on, has game sense, speed and backs himself in.
...
McInerney impressed the Knights in his first pre-season, which Gieschen described as "unbelievable". A feature was his running ability.
McInerney has some serious wheels. As a year 12 student, he clocked a sub-52 second time for 400 metres and finished second in a major schools championships in Melbourne.
Gieschen has not seen a player record the type of GPS numbers for game-day running and high-speed efforts that McInerney did."Comment

Can I ask the really obvious question that others must be thinking...is he any relation to umpire Shane? Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere so maybe not.Comment
