Agree we are far too nice, we should have challenged the ban and should be making much more of a fuss about the dreadful umpiring. Who cares if you get fined if you get results. Has worked wonders for the Hawks. We also lack a bit of mongrel in the team, all great teams have it we are way too nice.
Biggest worry is most of our young players are going backwards.Comment

Really not sure where this club is at. Worse kicking team in Comp. And probably worse team. Who in their right mind would recruit Thurlow and Clarke? McInerney selection was a disaster.
They are both useless. Longmire fall on your sword and move on.

MB. Lloyd has become a pretender. Creates nothing but wins the BF. spare me. I would think JL will start looking over his shoulder. This is totally unacceptable. Recruiting Clarke and Thurlow is Eade thinking. Clubs fall for recycled players too often. We have had good success but we have got it badly wrong this time.Comment

It would nice if we could just fast forward 2 years so we can play young Gulden and Campbell! They at least look like 2 young footballers that can actually use the ball when they gather it!

Surprise surprise we dont capitalise when we have ascendancy
Skills disgraceful
Midfield pathetic
Make Hewett a mid, lose thw tag we dont have enough good mids to warrant a tagger
Mills a waste with 15 possessions put in the middle
Heeney forward or in the middle, dont talk about how he needs to be forward than play him as a floating defender for periods
Ronke to NEAFL he is broken
Blakey on the wing cant keep playing 5 possession games
Mccartin to get Reids fwd time, cant kick straight waste of time forwardComment

It's going to be a long year. A few points
1. McInerney should not have been picked. Good on him, but a real head scratcher. Feel for guys who bust their arse in the NEAFL and don't get rewarded. This has been going on for a while. I like the look of Blakey but he needs to play some reserves and get form and learn his craft
2. The balance of the team feels wrong. Can't really put a finger on it but feels like we dont have the right mix of talls and smalls / runners and inside players
3. When they promote players they need to play them in their best position not where there is a hole
4. We need to adjust to the new rules. Almost like we missed the AFL notification.
5. We have some players down on form - Hewitt is one. Another is Ronke and Mills has been ordinary but he missed a year of footy so guess that's understandable.
6. Our skills are sub-par. Our kick, handballing everything is below other teams.
7. I'm calling it - father time is catching the big Bud. He is slower, can't kick as far and his marking, never a strength, is now almost non-existent. Stop playing for frees mate.
8. I think we lack on field leadership
What to do?
1. Put your best team on the park each week
2. Make guys earn their spot and given them a spot when they earn it. Give them a run instead of dropping after one game.
3. Place a premium on skills at selection.
4. Get the team to move it faster. When we move it faster and straighter we look better
5. Teach Sam Reid to kick. Then Ronke. Then Papley. I'll stop here.
6. The club should be looking at its entire coaching panel this year and asking some hard questions, including of Horse.
Trying to be zen.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Should have put a space between them and us early in second quarter. Their midfield, fed by Gawn, killed us in third quarter. Our midfield appeared to run out of gas but we were still in the game deep in the last quarter. Skill errors killed us. Don't understand criticism of Allir. Committed one bad kicking turnover. Heeney and Lloyd were worse. Rampe was great as was Jones. Buddy had a lot of possessions but was just off with his kicking. Hewitt blanketed Brayshaw in the first half but faded. Gawn was the most effective player on the ground .Spoonfed their midfield to advantage. Absolute key to the Demons. Dawson needs to be persevered with. Mcinerney looked mainly overawed. Thurlow had a shocker but was ok last week. 5 day break looked to have an effect but who knows? We did seem to tire but it happens when you are chasing backsides after Gawn set up their mids.Comment
