A couple of stats stand out for me. Firstly, Richmond scored 81 points from our turnovers. Secondly, the tackles inside 50 were in Richmond's favour, 22 - 2. Which I'm sure contributed to the first stat. Richmond laying tackles in attack obviously increased their chances of turning it over in a scoring position. While our inability to lay a tackle up forward, alternatively increased Richmond's opportunities to rebound it the length of the field.
And if I remember rightly, this is not the first time that we poor forward tackle numbers. Why I don't know? I don't think that it's lack of effort. Is it poor structure and poor positioning? Is there a lack of communication? Is there something wrong with the forward coaching? I mean, I don't think we had that problem when Kirk was forward coach?

Lloyd on the wing, he could play a Gaff type role
He has no penetration in his kicking out of defence, for his 30 possessions how many of them broke a line and got us into space 0
Play Melican and let Alir and Rampe run it out

John Barker, Matthew Nicks, Scott Burns, plenty of options out there. If you see John lasting only two more years why waste 2 more years, replace him at the end of the year, sure keep him around the club if he wants to but we are stagnating.

I agree with all the comments that we need to start a serious rebuild and be active during the trade period.

But I agree that we will need to go backwards to get better, but that will have to be through recruiting some more quality kids to replace our poorly skilled ones.

            +1

            Dawson
            Rowbottom
            Stoddart
            Ling
            McInerney

The future....get 'em all in.....and yes, recruit more like them. Skills and 'footy smarts' are in short supply at our club....start stocking up. Speed certainly helps but fast doesn't necessarily mean skilled as we've seen.

Agree some will have to be replaced but some of the mis kicks that led to turnovers were risk v reward ones through the centre corridor. Because we're not used to executing them, may be to do with confidence. Need to keep trying them. Agree about Ronke - technically incompetent.

Melican has lost the plot, he was ordinary in the NEAFL. We out scored the Tigers in the second half and 81 points from turnovers is unacceptable. However if we play like we did tonight, I believe it will eventually pay dividends and we can make some noise this year even though we will miss finals. Hoping one bad year for 2-3 good years ahead.

                  Agree 100%.

How many times didwe get the ball forward and there was Buddy 1 out amongst 2-3. Where in the hell is the rest of our forwards - oh yeah playing team defence.

Good call Doc. Need to keep persisting with same style and execute better. Find out who is capable. Only option.

You need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water. I personally don't believe that Horses coaching style matches the current game, but look at how poorly Carlton is going at the moment. Brendan Bolton has an amazing list and was supposed to be the next big thing. Sometimes quality coaches come out of nowhere, ALA Paul Roos.

Ling, Stoddart and Dawson delivering the ball inside 50 sounds promising.

Bottom line is we have had a soft draw so far. Both Adelaide and Melbourne are crap but both beat us. And we only scrapped past Carlton.
Our skills are VERY POOR with Richmond scoring 12.9 of their 13.11 from our turn overs. While some were due to pressure a lot were not.
Need a huge improvement in all skills to get better as a team.

Longmire has changed style to be more attacking. Team is not used to it and this causes us to commit turnovers, especially in central corridor or missing short passes in shallow inside 50 entries. Skills need to get better. New style not problem.

A problem that is really evident watching live ( I was there ) is we commit to many numbers to the contest, leaving no one spare when the ball comes out. We all fly for the marking contest , ball spills, all our players are on the deck recovering. We got a 2 on 1, both our guys tackle , ball spills, both are guys are on the ground and a Richmond player swoops in. It’s dumb football . Skills poor, footy smarts poor , effort is pretty decent . I didn’t get too upset tonight , im viewing games now that we won’t win , just looking for good signs. There were a couple , would like some more
