I can't help but notice that the teams which are running hard, with speed, and applying pressure across the ground are beating up on stronger, but more methodical teams. STK, PA and Richmond come to mind.

I don't know where the Swans are atm, but we don't look like a team playing with any urgency. We're succumbing to the pressure, Turning the ball over. And really don't look like a team that has a method of effectively moving the ball from one end of the ground to the other.

It's more than just personnel. It's the desire and dedication to go all out for 4 quarters. Longmire knows this. He knows our pressure is way below AFL standard. How to change this is easier said than done, as it's something that's been talked up about during game preparation, but doesn't carry onto the ground at game time.

Sydney can't run in swarms like those teams you mentioned because we have no players ahead of the ball. The was an instance when Buddy got the ball defensive side of centre. Wheeled around to run on but had to stop and look for a short kick because he himself wasn't forward. Our structures and balance is all wrong.

the only place for Lloyd is in the reserves. again he was the cause of the first goal, maybe they all need glasses to see who they are kicking it too, said before but how dis he win the B&F. Mid tier player only. Cunningham picked out a tiger for their second an I am sure they were the culprits again later. Thought we were looking at players that can kick to team mates these 2 cant so drop them and give someone else a go. Its no good getting touches but doing nothing with them. Coaching panel also poor dewey should have been put in charge.

I know I could be accused at clutching at straws a little with this suggestion but Sam Wicks seems to be going ok at NEAFL, in particular with his tagging and tackling. He can also sniff out a goal. Given the importance of locking a ball into one's forward 50 and stopping rebound out if defence, I wonder whether young Sam might be a better option than Ronke?

That's not the most ridiculous thing I've heard. I would have never really considered Wicks as a senior chance but we did draft him as a rookie so they must see something in him, and as you said he has done ok as a small forward/mid in the NEAFL so far this year. Couldn't be any worse than Ronke at the moment!

It will be interesting what changes are made for the next game - in both players and coaching style. Something has to change or this year will be like back in the early 90's.

No wins, playing without any flair or enthusiasm and in front of small crowds. Hate to see what next years membership and sponsors will be. The club cannot even be bothered to show how many members have signed up this year - they still have last years number posted. Very poor effort and it seems to be creeping throughout the club.

Just looking more into Wicks stats so far in 2019 and in 3 games he has averaged 19 possessions (27 yesterday the most of any Swan), 3 marks and 6 tackles per game and has kicked 6 goals 4 behinds with a 94 dream team average.

I know it the NEAFL but it's not too bad and surely he could at least give us more than Ronke at the minute!

Were the turnovers the cause, or a symptom of our problems? If we have the ball in our defensive area, are under enormous pressure, and have no forward structure ahead, we’re left to try and pinpoint short kicks which half our side don’t have the skill to execute.

To me, turnovers and a static structure are negatively reinforcing components, of a side that is down on confidence. That is, it's something of a vicious circle. Because of the likelihood of turnovers, players are less likely to run into attacking positions, because of their concerns about getting caught out on the rebound. However, less running into attacking positions, means that turnovers are more likely, because there is less chance of a player getting into space, and a player that is in the clear, is easier to hit than a marked player. Also, when players run hard to join an attack, there's more chance of mopping up the ground balls, that result from inaccurate passes. In that scenario, an attack can be kept going without even taking possession; just a slap or deflection into the path of a team mate can see them running clear. I think that both Richmond and Collingwood on the weekend, showed the effectiveness of the hard running, that is brought about through high confidence. Especially, Collingwood: as soon as they got the ball, players just launched.

Hopefully, we can turn it around, with a bit more confidence. I think what the team really needs now, is an upset win, in which a large percentage of our attacking moves achieve a result.

Went to the "G" yesterday to see Saints V Dees. I never thought i'd say it but I wish we played like St Kilda!

Endeavour has improved immeasurably from the first 2 weeks. Mistakes are gut-wrenching but not unknown for a team this young. The elders played much better (bar Reid and Sinclair). We were unlucky that it seemed Richmond made us pay every time we made a mistake.

I wasn't expecting much this year, but I'm convinced that is the best collection of young talent I've seen at the Swans in the 20 odd years I've been supporting them - I'm hopeful things can be turned around quickly with some judicious trading. In the meantime, I'll try to look for the green shoots this season...

I’m hoping so - at the start of the season I was feeling very comfortable about the list, although concerned at the gap at the 26-28 age. Now I’m questioning whether I had over-rated the list; although I guess the true nature of that assessment may only be realised in future seasons.

This leaves me worried about selling a long term of success as part of retaining young stars.

Interesting press conference by Longmire. Sounds like he recognises the issues of our exit out if defence due to poor execution under pressure and also not following the game plan. Sounds like he wanted the boys to kick longer and spoil to then at minimum cause a stoppage. Last night, they were trying to exit with handpasses and short kicks, hoping to maintain possession. With the hard tackling and hassle of Richmond, that method was going to require skill and precision, which sadly we were lacking, not just last night, but for a long time now.

I think Rose has too be next in line as the pressure small forward. He has shown good form over a long period of time. BUT, if we give him a go he needs at LEAST 3 weeks to show his wares. If he stands up great - otherwise we can de-list him at the end of the year knowing we gave him a go.

We’re actually a good chance for the spoon, watching carlton and they are a much better team than us ( or playing much better football at least , which far better skills and ball movement ) . Gold Coast are going well, St Kilda , freo too . Only kangas worse than us at this point I reckon. That’s the reality at the moment.

I'm not sure where the next win is coming from on this form? Brisbane at the Gabbatoir followed by North at home, we'd surely win one of those?

I'm actually happy to see the Swans try to play a more skilled game, even if they crashed and burned against the masters of the turnover last night. I would rather that than bombing long to a contest down the line.

Ralph Dawg all those comments from Horse were in our front third / going inside 50 (and he made similar comments after last week's game), that we weren't entering deep enough and they were rebounding from their defence and scoring. He referencing turning the ball over in "that" 40-70m range (from our goal). I didn't hear anything about how we moved the ball out of defence.

He also said we'd been good in the past at getting the mix of youth and experience right to remain competitive whilst blooding a ton of young players, which is true. That implies we are likely to see less youth and more experience in the side.

I'm just not sure where that injection of experience is going to come from unless he means the return of Smith, Grundy, McVeigh etc and I guess Menzel in a few weeks.

I thought KJack had a pretty terrible game and should be on the chopping block.
