Good win by the Cygnets ... with so many young players in the side, one may as well call them that.

True - but I still would of been pretty proud of the effort. And fuming at that Heppell throw in the lead up to their last goal.

I don't think so, myself. I think a good many of us could wear it even had we lost playing as we did tonight, giving a four-quarter effort and giving us a taste of the future.

Ch 7 showed goal line vision of Dane Rampe climbing up the goal post when Myers was having that post siren shot from 60m. According to the rule book, it constitutes as shaking the goal post & Essendon could've easily been awarded a free kick from the goal square! Essendon players were highlighting & appealing to the umpire. Ch 7 are making it a talking point & I'm sure it's going to be talked about this week in the media.

Update: The umpires have reviewed the incident & are satisfied it didn't affect result of the game nor they thought Rampe shook goal post. Umpire can be heard telling Rampe to get down! A real brain fade from Rampe. The goal post can be seen shaking from the behind camera.

Well we are extremely lucky then! Absolutely stupid of Rampe. How could he think that he is allowed to do such a thing! He has done a number of undisciplined things this year which is not good enough for a captain of a club! He's a great player but needs to pull his head in a bit I reckon as he will only become a target more so by the umpires!

Channel 7 now highlighting the fact that Dane Rampe "climbed" the goal post and shook it as the Bomber player was lining up for and kicking that final shot.
There 's a rule against that, punishable by a free kick ON THE GOAL LINE. Umpire told Dane to get down and, obviously, didn't decide to give a free against him.
One time an umpire not paying anything worked for us!!

What a brain fade by Rampe. We were lucky the umpire didn't pay a free. That's all anyone is going to talk about now.

                      Take the win.

Nothing like the Swans to create a little controversy late in a Bombers match. Which will consume a heap of media attention...

Excellent as we do like to fly under the radar when it come to footy and the media can have a field day about nothing....

Probably didn't pay free kick against Rampe because the ball fell 10m short. Had Myers made the distance & kicked a behind it would've been a different outcome! It could've been the most disastrous final 25 secs in a game from when Blakey won that free kick.

Agree. Rampe is an idiot, even I know that shaking the goal post (inevitable result of climbing up it) is a free kick. The match might very well have had a different result.

Now that was more Swans like. Great to see some of the young ones repaying the faith. Who needs the No.1 pick anyway?

It's already blowing up on social media! Crazy and Stupid to think a Captain of a club could think that's a smart thing to do...

I think it happened like this:

In the last quarter with 7:05 to go Sam contested a pack mark that resulted in Hayward’s pickpocket goal. Watching it frame at a time he lands on his left leg but proceeds to fall initially onto his left hip before rolling onto his back. At 6:28 to go, Reid can be seen in the corner of the shot rubbing his left hip. 6:16 to go he is rubbing the front of the top of his thigh a few seconds later he is positioned toward the centre of the ground walking ok but looking like he wants to come off, but a second later a close up shows him with a flexed posture at his hips (often implicating a groin or hip flexor). 6:02 to go and Jude commentates that “Sam Reid is coming off, hobbling”. 5:44 to go seen supine on the boundary with Matt Cameron starting to asses what looks to be either at or just anterior/forward of his greater trochanter - looking potentially like a contusion/“corky” rather than a strain of the hip flexor. The trochanter is quite superficial, and prone to contusions if you land on them. The bursa can or ITB can be easily irritated. At 4:24 to go in the last quarter they cut to Sam laying in his right side and using what looks to be a handheld massage machine on the greater trochanter of the left hip. 4:08 Reid on the boundary rubbing his own proximal lateral thigh at (just) above the greater trochanter while abducting/externally rotating a little. 0:19 seconds to go he is standing & walking boundary side (though he promptly sits). Standing again after the siren. Walking onto the ground ok after the final miss. No noticeable antalgic gait, no ice, no crutches (but they wouldn’t have had much time to bother with that during a frenetic finish). So I’d hypothesise a mild contusion (based on about 10-15 seconds of scrutinised footage - for what that’s worth, which isn’t a lot but it was at least fun attempting to diagnose).
