Though I was pleased to be on the winning side of the free kick count. I suspect that us winning the frees, is more likely happen when Ray Chamberlain is umpiring, but I haven't tried to confirm that.Comment

Yeah, the physicality by all players, ours included, towards opposition players as they chase the ball over the boundary line annoys me. Jones hamstring injury is the result of a quite unnecessary push by a North player to give Jones a hurry-up over the boundary line.Comment

The shinboners like a punch-up, don't they.
I saw them (and the swans) at the airport the following morning... the blue camp were pretty blue!!
You've gotta love heart-attack footy.
What a great game. I had no radio commentary, so had no idea how long we had to go at the 34 minute mark of the final quarter.
Only we can give up a 30 point lead.
I DO have a question about the 30 second countdown to kick for goal... do you have 30 seconds to get rid of the ball, i.e. the ball must touch your boot within and up to the 30 second mark, or is it 30 seconds to start your run in from centre half-back? If it's the former... the shinboners tended to wait until the 30 seconds has passed before they even looked like starting to kick.
Can you imagine the umpire blowing the whistle and saying, you've taken too long and handing the ball over to the defence? I'd like to see that happen.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

And the cheer squad put in their 5 cents worth:
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

He also tried to force Blakey over the boundary fence, for no good reason. Probably worthy of a free.

Sounds like we have all North supporters on this site!! The a@@@hole Thompson was constantly punching him and tossing him to the ground. He didn't it at least twice after the ball had crossed the boundary line. Blakey did well to stand up to him and give something back.

By the way I'm offended at being compared to a North supporter. That's very harsh! ????Comment

The umpires didn’t report Parker but Michael Christian (the MRO) will certainly look at the incident. I think Parker might be fined (careless, high contact, low impact). I can’t see justification for a suspension as the North player played for the rest of the match.
Then again, Ablett and Fyfe received no sanction at all for elbows to the head last week - so Christian has set a precedent ......
"Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct with Low Impact and High Contact."Comment

I remember when Barry Hall had him in a headlock. I thought he was going to lose consciousness or even worse!Comment

So, he took 48 seconds before actually kicking? If I'm understanding you correctly, they'll think themselves damn fools. Imagine what an extra 18 or 25 seconds may have meant at the end of the game! We Bloods supporters were already reaching for the angina tablets!Comment
