And Callum was almost demanding that he go over and talk to Colin, because Colin did something interesting on his week off. But good old BT, just wasn't interested in something that may have been entertaining.Comment

Clarke just doesn’t seem have much game awareness in my opinion. Puts himself in the right spots, but is dreadful with the ball.Comment

I can't be sure, but I do suspect that if his name was Hamish Smith he wouldn't have a job on TV. He is dull and a charisma free zone.My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

Maybe I'll change my mind upon viewing the replay on tv, bit that third quarter was just a terrible quarter of footy by both sides. Awful. We were lucky that Hawthorn were as bad and not able to take advantage of our bumbling.
I was pleased, however, with how we got out there and iced the game in the last quarter. Especially the way we played heavy possession footy in our backline and player out the match on our terms. That was similar to how we finished off the West Coast match and was good to see. Mature fourth quarter footy.Comment

They had us in all sorts of trouble in the 3rd quarter having wrestled momentum back in the 2nd. So I’m really happy with how we turned it around.
I think that was our first win at the SCG against the Hawks in a decade. I’ll take that and remind myself about how much better we are placed for the future than they are!Comment

the fourth, and soaked up a lot of time chipping it around the backline. Better to win ugly than lose pretty. The fact that it was
a different cast of characters that stepped up is a sign of the team's growing maturity. The big time contested mark and goal by Blakey
when it counted was the highlight for me.Last edited by KTigers; 22 June 2019, 05:55 AM.Comment

Really enjoying our hybrid footy at the moment
I know I have banged on about it for years ie us being flexible between uncontested and contested footy but it is lovely football to watch of late
Love watching our backline attack and take the game on
Just awesome !!!!
Ps If we get more momentum and some of our guys off contract move up in value I wouldn’t compete with Jones if he has better offers - I would definitely trade with Gold Coast etc
I would trade Martin for Jones
I know it’s only jones first game back but once again he drove me crazy last night with double figures bad decision making
There are a lot better decision makers in the team then Jones and he was costly last night under minimal pressure most of his mistakes
See trade thread for my thoughtsLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; 22 June 2019, 05:59 AM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

The Hawks nearly undid us because they are still OK, often quicker and slicker like of old , we fell into treacle ball movement there for a couple of quarters .
It’s hard to penetrate and hit targets in congested areas once nearly 36 players go to one half of the ground.
Aliir turned the ball over because there was no one running to or in clear space.
Blakey saved us in the last , he was just terrific and got us the win.
In mid winter 7.50pm is too late a start . Luckily there was no wind to drop our body temps even further.
Whoever came up with Hawks colours must have been a tax accountant.
Imagine a lady going into a dress shop and saying I want something in mustard and turd !Comment

Great game.
I loved the interview with Papley after the game - you rarely see a player who seems so genuine, particularly when he was explaining Blakey's nickname. It'll be a curious nickname in a few years when he's 95kg - maybe he'll be upgraded to "Crocodile" :-)
I only managed to see the second half, but I thought Clark and Menzel were both good, and Aliir was having a very poor game, especially in the third quarter. We seemed to have quite a few players who were relatively unsighted, including Reid and Heeney (although I read that Heeney picked up a niggle in the first half). My guess is that between Reid, Blakey and Buddy we're only really going to see one or two heavily involved each week.Comment

H.Mclahlan is an embarrassment. Makes out he's buddies with likes of Davis, Long etc and they have to go along with it. Thinks he's clever and witty- on his own there.Comment

). Josh Kennedy (eagles version) is 194cm and 99kg, and the top of the healthy weight range for 191cm is 90kg. So I would expect him to be about that.
As you say, a champ in the making and best of all - he KICKS STRAIGHT!!!Comment

Lizard definitely stepped up and won us the game in the last quarter. He’s going to be quite a player in a year or two.
He beat Burgoyne in one on ones a couple of times. Not a lot of players can do that.Comment
